IIRC, Corvette was the only GM car I can remember that had dual pin pad retaining calipers and that was on the J-56 Heavy Duty brake system required on the L-88's and ZL-1's

Yes, I do remember that Bill, and also a story about a guy taking his calipers in to be rebuilt on a a Corvette he bought and they had dual cotter pins. The shop he took them to said to drop the fuel tank and see if it said L-88 on the tank sticker, and Walla! Another L-88 Found!

Them were the days.

And folded over brake pad tops so the pads would not warp when hot.

There was no J56 option for 68 Camaros, just J52 power discs.

My 67 Z came with J56. The original owner modified the calipers per the factory drawing to the dual cotter pin design.

67 Z's were available with HD disc brakes, with the puck insulators. Jon Mello's old 9k mile green and gold car was originally equipped with them if not mistaken the option included metallic shoes for the rear.
CRG has a complete write up.
