Boy is this a cool car...#s 327/365, power windows, air, etc.
Did not realize A/C was available with a mechanical lifter engine.

love the color combo
That sure is a nice little car. The combination of air conditioning and solid lifters was available in 64 and 65, on the 365 horse. It was also available in 63 on the solid lifter non-fuel injection motor.
The knock off wheels appeared to be reproduction Versions.
Would like to see a similar car with blue interior.
I know I am in the minority, but red interiors just don't do it for me.

We love white/red. Nice car. Great driver.
This is one of only two engines offered with solid lifters and AC, the second being the 72 LT1.

"2-speed wipers (1 of less than 400)"
What am I missing here?

----Looking purely at the trim tag condition, I'm saying it's new. I don't know the ins and outs of the fonts like so many on this sight, but that tag is way, way too nice a condition. Plus, the seats aren't leather (as stated) yet the tag reads vinyl!....Bill S
If anyone is interested, I would recommend you ask Roy Sinor to look at that tag.

Bill, I agree the picture is terrible/poor quality and I do support your sentiment of airing on the side of caution. I see the the beginnings of an original tag but due to poor quality it is *very* tough to make the final judgement.

The tag looks like it was made yesterday.

Lots of Corvette tags are pretty well preserved, being in the passenger compartment instead of the engine compartment.
But,,, it does look awful fresh.

I was going to say what Lynn said...these C2 Corvette tags always look minty to me too, but I'm clearly no expert on these cars.

I love Goldline tires on any color Corvette, but I’m not sure they were offered in ‘64.
I recollect the 65-66 Vettes it was an option.
Another item I always thought was cool on the mid-year coupes with AC was the “single” bow tie decal on the RH rear glass.
This C2 has it on both sides.

----Tony,,,In my experience there is always deterioration and sometimes corrosion that is apparent. Add to that, people seem to manage to get thier toes up in there. As well, when you remove the glove box assembly it's easy to snag the top of the tag and bend it either coming out or going back in. I have never seen an original tag that hasn't had some tells!....Bill S

And HOW does sand paper scratches get UNDER the vin tag ??? Is that a factory anomaly ??
The A/C compressor almost looks like an add on. The high pressure hose has worm gear clamps on it. Every other A/C system I've worked on has crimped ends, to hold the pressure on the high side.

Well known factory practice for 63/64 as the VIN tag was welded to the bird cage, not riveted.

I understand that. There are grinder/sanding marks starting at the top of the metal bar and continuing to the bottom UNDER the tag. It, clearly, wasn't on there when that was done. Was the process to clean the bar for the spot welder to work really that crude at the factory ? I don't recall it being this obvious on other pics of vette vin tags...:hmmm:

----Mitch,,,Since the serial tag was put in before the trim tag and the grind marks were done by a (fallible) human, it's a fairly normal thing to happen! The double weld on the end we can see is a bit troubling.....Bill S

I'm very certain that the VIN tag is OEM although I'd like a better pic to confirm. The trim tag judgement cannot be made without a better quality photo.

For education purposes, what's the issue with the TT picture?

I was just checking the ridiculous finale bid on a BAT auction of a ‘63 Split Fuelie.
Noticeable sanding under it’s VIN for the spot weld procedure.

Cool, at least that one is done a little more carefully than the one we were discussing.
I thought of this today too, while using my spot welder at work and had to sand off the paint to get it to work properly...

Bad quality. The best way to photograph a mid year Corvette trim tag or VIN tag is by holding the camera or phone upside down to allow the flash to hit the tag directly. This is only after a thorough wipe down with paint thinner/wax and grease remover/brake cleaner

----This tag is far more the norm than the perfect condition tag above.....Bill S
