Didn't go to Pavilions today as I started working at Barrett Jackson. Shot lots of cell phone pictures that I cannot resize, as they are either small or huge. I think I know how to fix it, but I'm too tired to mess with them tonight. Click on the link below to see the first two days.

interesting deal on the carousel red with parchment interior 69 ra4 automatic judge.
back around 81 or 82 i bought a complete from carb, exhaust manifolds, distributor etc.. ram air 4 engine. i tried off and on for 40 years to locate the car it came out of with no luck. since i have been reducing my collection, i decided a few months back to sell the engine to a good friend. then a couple of weeks ago a friend called and said hey the judge your engine came out of is listed on BJ. couldnt believe it. ive been in contact with the seller and my friend agreed to sell the engine to the buyer if they want to pay for it. hopefully they will get reunited together.

I am interested in buying the Judge if I can reunite it with the original engine. Can you give me any info on the car or the engine (block rebuildable, standard bore, etc...)?

Today was not as hectic, even though the gates opened to the public. Still waiting for some auction vehicles to arrive. From what I hear, some were removed from the docket because there are transportation issues and some consigners backed out.

my friend said he would sell the block to anyone who actually owns the car. it was standard bore and in perfect shape as far as i knew.

Heard through other coworkers the orange COPO was removed from the docket and by now, may not be on the premises. Heard the “F” word used. A Mustang was removed from the docket too, but I do not know the lot#.

The vehicle auction started today at 2 PM with mostly 2 wheel vehicles. I didn’t take one of these as my duties now have me going to the various tents for description card swaps. May start driving tomorrow or Wednesday.

Late night driving last night. To fill TV time, the selling pace was very slow. Auctioneers work the crowd to get as much as they could for the seller. 400+ cars get sold today, so we’ll be rocking’.

The old R&S sight has become an overflow parking area for BJ. Lots of car haulers are parked there now.

Sounds like poor planning on the sellers part if it doesn't start to get across the auction stage. In the whole scope of things what does a new battery co$t? A LOT, if it doesn't project a good image to a potential buyer, and you know what they say:, "You only get 1 first impression"

All too many times a dead battery is the byproduct of people climbing in and out of these cars like it's a ride at the state fair. People who will never bid on a car have to jump in, look around, take pics of their wife.......etc, etc. All the while lights of one type or another are left on.

I know there are site members who sell a fair amount of cars in this manner. I have no idea how they tolerate it!

I updated the album: https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Barrett-Jackson-Scottsdale-2022/

Yes, dead batteries and running out of fuel are constant problems. I ended up with a Mercury Turnpike Cruiser late on Tuesday night that had a dead battery but we managed to charge it enough to go the distance. I ended up with the next to the last car Thursday night, a 2012 Boss 302 Laguna SECA with a dead battery. The mechanic was pissed at me because I did not raise the hood before his arrival. What he did not see was my struggle getting into the car, bending myself around the seat bolsters while doing all possible not to hit the Cobra parked tight next to me. Oh, and then there was the 5 drunk idiots laughing while taking bets if I would hit the Cobra or not. I didn’t.

Yes, I have tons of stories!

The good consigners arrive with at least a 1/4 tank of gas and a fresh battery, or at least a healthy battery. In the heat of the moment, a disaster could happen. Late last night a ‘70 Chevelle SS was pushed up and over the block (dead battery) with the hood wide open because the right hinge was damaged.

Billohio

We saw all 3 of those cars. Turnpike cruiser seemed cheap if I remember, my dad said the mustang was ugly and we wondered why the hood wouldnt shut! Thanks!!

WiFi at Westworld sucks, so posting on Facebook and here was extremely slow to non-existing. I started the day driving a silver 1971 Mustang Boss 351 and ended the day with a Grabber Green 1971 Mustang Boss 351 that sold for $180K. Had cool cars in between. The big buck cars cross the block tomorrow. I’ll update my album tomorrow as o am very sleepy now.

There was more than 1 69 Z that brought really good money this year. The blue one brought $187k, and another orange one brought $159k. There were a few others that weren't perfect and still didn't seem to have a problem squeaking over the 6 figure mark.

Honestly it's kind of what I was expecting on 69's since they already had a couple of 67-68 Z's that were around the $150k mark, and just a few weeks earlier Mecum got over 6 figures for a 70 Z.

I watched this several times while walking around Barrett Jackson earlier this week. I was amazed at the amount of people that would just walk up to a car, open the door, get in, sit down, and just start fiddling with stuff. Many of which weren't wearing a bidding pass. One woman sat down in a car, all giddy and smiling, wanted her picture taken, was messing around with stuff on the dash.

I just looked at my dad and shook my head. While I admire someone's enthusiasm for a classic car, I was always taught to never touch someone else's property without permission, even if it was for sale and I wanted to buy it.

I don't know how so many people were getting away with it, when my father got chastised for just touching a piece of paper that was on one of the mini bikes he was interested in. Couldn't read the darn thing taped to the front forks because the front wheel was turned sideways. No sooner did he turn the paper to read it, never touching the bike, security came running up and acted like he was slapping someone else's child. Completely unnecessary.

I also believe a big part of what is driving these prices is the current state we are in with the availability of parts. I mean who wants to build a car right now when you have to wait months for parts? Just buy one done, usually cheaper than the build cost anyway.

I waited 3 months to get quarter panels and 4 months for the outer wheel houses needed to go with them. I've had an exhaust system on order since early November last year and it's not predicted to be in till the end of February. I'm betting that'll get pushed back further when the end of February gets here.
I've had a 4L80E on order since the beginning of December. Still told it'll be at least February. Hughes is having trouble getting the clutches they like to use. So many cam cores are out of stock, and aluminum heads are like hens teeth, I've got 2 engines I can't finish. I've gotten to the point I've stopped ordering stuff if it's not in stock and let the projects sit.

Update the album this morning. Sooooo tired. https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Barrett-Jackson-Scottsdale-2022/

Many times a consigner or bidder will ask me what I predict a car will sell for. Besides the ramifications that could come from doing that, predictions are just impossible at BJ Scottsdale. Besides the already mentioned cars, a buddy’s unrestored green ‘70 Chevelle LS6 sells for $300K, surpassing their expectation while the restored yellow ‘70 Chevelle LS6 sells for $180K, under that consigner’s expectation.

Met an awesome local couple with disposable income that bought the pink 5th gen Camaro with 32” wheels because it was hilarious looking. Sure did get TONS of attention. Many others bought cars because they liked them.

One more day of selling then I’m done. Don’t think there is TV coverage today.
