I owned its twin back in 2000. The difference is mine had no spoilers and was an automatic on the column.

So you had the one with the same VIN number?

GM Canada shows M22

Without comparing I'm not sold the vin tag is real either but I'll let Bill or Kurt comment on that. At the very least it appears to have been off the car (vin). But as stated above cowl is definitely repo.

I heard about this "COPO" years ago so I decided to go to the MTO or Ministry of Transportation here in Ontario. It is equivalent to a DMV

For $20 anybody can purchase a "Used Vehicle Information Package", otherwise referred to as a buyers kit. It details the owners history for a specific vehicle as well informs a potential buyer of any liens registered against a vehicle with a specific VIN.

I also included the information from the GM of Canada import document.

Here is the paperwork for this car......

VIN has been off the car. And the body used to be a blue car from what I recall.

With this essentially being another made up Canadian car then based on other recent COPO sales this car should go for about 300k.

I believe there have been a few examples of two cars possibly having the same partial vin stamped on the engine and or trans. Worker just forgot to swap out the last digit stamp before stamping the next one.

I am guessing there were some real serious controls in place to prevent two cars from receiving the same vin.

If there is no chance of two vin plates stamped with this vin on them, then ONE of the two cars (and I am pretty certain we know which one) has not only a fake trim tag, but a faked vin. I would want nothing to do with such a car. You can't call it a rebody, as the vin was fabricated. Even calling it a fake is kind.
