Holy cow. According to the auction description, this one used a donor body and had a "non-OEM" trim tag. I'll cut y'all a deal right now for my LB COPO - $245K for any SYC member!

I believe this is the car that was traded in on the Autumn Gold Pilot Chevelle that you now own, Bob. The story from folks that I spoke to in Vancouver in the 90's or early 2000's was that the original owner of the Chevelle (a gentleman named Steve Chequer who is no longer with us) traded in an orange 4 speed COPO Camaro on the Autumn Gold LS6 Auto car because he preferred the auto for bracket racing. I did speak to his widow many years ago and she vaguely remembered the cars but nothing else.

Is there a way to combine this thread with the Mussalem Motors thread and have this information in one place?

The Camaro was on the used car lot of Mussallem's in mid May of 1970 when I tried it out.

I wonder how much of the BJ COPO was actually on that used car lot back in 1970. The BJ writeup did say donor body and non-OEM trim tag. So maybe just the VIN plate was at Mussallem's back in 1970?

As stated in a previous post, the original owner traded it in on a Chevelle for personal reasons. When I tested it in May 1970, no doubt it was a real and complete COPO. It was originally restored about 1998. The person who restored it found the engine first, then tracked down the car, and reunited the two. It was then sold a few years later, and to the best of my knowledge it has had at least 3 or 4 owners since. How it is described now is not how I knew it to be when it left B.C. - Dale

It was a year old. Not even Canadian rust is that bad! :)
