How can I tell the dates on some used fuel pumps I have? If I remember correctly these two came off original Big Block 1969 & 1970 Chevelle's. Any help would be appreciated.

referencing a search on this site, I believe the 016H to be the 16th day of 1968, but I can't figure out the 249U? I remember them to be off of L-78 engines I had. Any input would be appreciated.

I got this from CRG...Joe

GM in the 60s had a 2 letter code where the first letter was the month A=Jan,B=Feb and so forth and the second letter represented the year, H=68, I=69,J=70

Starting in 71 the Julian date replaced the 2 letter. So 1=jan1st & 365= Dec 31st and all points in between. The Letter after the number, the year, still followed in order of previous, J=70, K=71...N=1974

Joe has it. I have an original assembly line 68 350hp fuel pump. I’ll send a photo later tonight if I don’t forget. If you want to see it but what Joe shared is correct.

Thanks for the picture. Am I reading this correctly as HH40669? (August 1968)

The 1/16" tall (aka Small) lettering are from later replacement pumps. Examples of Vintage Factory pumps have the Larger 1/8" lettering.
