My wife stumbled upon this picture on FB today. Ed Fanning Chevy at 1252 N Lake St in Aurora IL. I believe I can see window stickers in the drivers side rear window of two 1964 full size Chevys, and given that there are no leaves on the trees in the picture, it must be from late 1963 or early 1964.

Outstanding, many thanks Pete! Been looking for a picture of that sign for a LONG time, not much out there it seems. In the dealership building picture, I think I can see a reflection of that sign in the third from left showroom window pane. Gaylords was a discount department store that was next door (north) of the dealership. On the far right end of the Gaylords building was a food store where my mom would often go grocery shopping. I would sometimes accompany her on the shopping trips and walk over to Fanning to see what was new there while she shopped.
Ed was a real nice quiet man,who loved to talk about golf..Sold me 2 cars before he retired.
Was just @ the DMV down the street from there last month to renew my license, and that area doesn't really look all that different. There's a Bank there now but you can still see how the Dealership was laid out.
Good friend, Paul Dehnert who we lost about 10 ago, bought his 1970 Z28 new from them.

My LS6 came from Fanning! I remember going to Northgate as a kid. There was a great little sandwich shop close by as well.

----I noticed just before I read your post that the "i" in fanning is a golf ball and tee. Thought to myself "Ed was a golfer"!.....Bill S
