Wondering if I can connect with the person who bought this yellow yenko? Sold from Slocum Car Lease back in 1977or 1976. All I have to go by is the License plate... QC 2407... Police can"t help , unless reported as a Stolen car. Would like to get the Vin number .... Would like to hear if they got the right parts for car. I don't have Vin number.... Also I wonder where dealer ist was orignally sold from? Slocum car lease was in West Allis, Wisconsin...Mike

The car ended up in Waukesha, looked at it in the early '80s. By that time the stripes and Yenko badging were gone and it didn't look like anything special. Don't think it had the original engine.
Sold new at Hult's Chevrolet in Madison. Sold at Barrett-Jackson AZ 2016 for $330,000.

Since you owned it when I looked at it, perhaps you could add some memories.

I don't recall you looking at the car. It was not a Hult car, it was from Yunker. The Hult car you referred to I'm pretty sure was originally owned by Roy Kenseth.

Yup, that's it. It is an exact twin to N578835, which was sold new at Yunker Chev in Oconomowoc according to the registry on this site. The registry shows N578842 sold out of Hult's.
You sold some headers to long-time colleague Warren Malkin Jr. April 2020. At the time, you mentioned to him that they were on a Yenko Camaro which of course, got his attention. Warren also noted you lived in Waukesha, WI so he asked if I knew you. You told him we never met.
From my email to him:
“Interesting comments from Gary. I did meet him; he just doesn’t remember. But he does recall I worked for RTE which hasn’t existed for 31 years. He had the Yenko for sale and Doug [Martz] was interested so I went to check it out. It had been raced some but not cut at all. MN engine long gone. Had all the usual mods; I recall a tach screwed to the top of the dash pad. He had a new pad that went with the car. The Yenko and 427 emblems were in a box in the trunk. Doug passed on it and Cunneen bought it. Sold at B-J AZ 2016 for $330k.”
Make no mistake about it. I looked at the car, at your house. As noted in the B-J description, another long-time colleague Ed Cunneen bought it.

My car was N578835, not the Hult car. And I sure don't remember you looking at the car. We did speak on the phone but I'm almost certain Cuneen is the only one who ever looked at it.
Welcome Dump the clutch, sorry about all this..

Guys, do we know whether the OP's brother's car was 835 or 842? I got kinda confused...

With three identical cars built at the same time and delivered to dealers 50 miles apart, it is entirely possible 2 or all 3 are involved.
Someone gave me Yenko ownership history circa 1990:
N578835 Cliff Ernst collection
N578842 Bob Trez, Gary Holub, Ed Cunneen
N578884 private owner, WI.
All three still exist.
In addition, I have a WI DMV record from 1983 showing N578842 was privately owned since 4/22/81 by an individual in Madison, WI.
Nothing changes the fact that Doug Martz asked me to look at a Yenko Camaro in Waukesha about 1981 and I did. I was not in the market. Cunneen later told me he bought it.
Between Dale, Yunker and Hult's Chevrolet, about 27 COPO Camaros were sold in this area. 12 remain in the wind. One of the Dale COPOs was found in 2015. No one had any idea what it was. Bet there are one or more still around here.

I owned 835 from January '76 until November '85. There were no thoughts of selling until maybe summer of '84. The phone calls from Lombard and Minneapolis probably started in '81, '82 for sure.

So, did you buy your’s from Slocum Leasing? I see nothing posted other than that possibility that could tie the OP brother’s car to it also being your car…#835.

It was from a leasing place in West Allis. Somehow the Slocum name doesn't seem right to me although it was 45 years ago. There was a Slocum Pontiac in Milwaukee for a number of years but this was a completely different location.
I bought the car from the father of the owner. The son had been killed in a car accident and the car had sat for a time. The father said another son, likely the OP, who was soon to be of driving age and he wanted the car gone before that happened. That was the story I was told.

Well, it sounds like you found not only the buyer of the car, some of the history, and the answers to your questions. I’d say you did pretty darn good for your first post! Glad it all worked out for you and welcome aboard! It’s a great site with some great guys and gals!

Didnt gary esse have one?
Not to my knowledge, didn't know him that well. Doug did, never mentioned Esse owning a Yenko.
Esse is Mr. 55 Chevy. Has several airport limos, occasionally seen at local shows.
