Hi Everybody,

If anyone would know this answer it would be you guys! My '66 427 Corvette was sold new from Queen City Chevrolet in Cincinnati. Has anyone out there ever seen a 1960's era metal license plate frame showing that dealership's name on it? I've personally never seen one. And I've never seen a metal dealership emblem either.

If anyone out there has seen one of these would you please share what they looked like here? Example photos would be fabulous!

Thanks Guys,
Mike

The only picture I have of anything like that from Queen City is for a sticker on the rear panel. This one is on an original paint '67 Z. I have not seen a license plate frame or die cast emblem from that dealer but I'm not from that part of the country and they may exist.

A photo of your '67 Yenko die cast emblem would be excellent!

Hello 1967Z28 and camarojoe,

Here's an NOS sticker that I got from a very generous guy in Cincinnati about 10 years ago. My gut feeling has been that this fender sticker is 1970's - early 1980's vintage. But if that sticker you posted shown on that '67 Z with survivor paint is original to dealership sale, then they were used earlier. Anybody have any thoughts to how early these stickers were used? My sticker measures 1-1/4" X 7" inches. Surprisingly small for a dealership decal in my opinion.

Mike

P.S. Just noticed while posting this.....The '67 Camaro has a white letter version sticker and my NOS sticker is a black letter version. Obviously for light colored paint.

I have photos of a brand new yellow 67 Yenko sold through Queen City. It has the black lettered sticker just like your NOS one, mounted just below the Camaro script(no spoiler). I believe they used both depending on a the paint color.

Thanks Tarrytown SS427s,

I think we're on to something here!

I have no photos of my '66 427 convertible Vette in her factory original Nassau Blue paint from the rear. Now I'm wondering if one of these stickers was affixed to my car at the dealership too?

A photo of that new yellow '67 Yenko showing this sticker would be great!

I don’t think I can upload a picture here anymore, but if you send me your phone # I will text you a picture of it. What is the vin of your Corvette? I have a binder of sales invoices from Queen City.

Here is some pictures of stickers inside of the glove box door on a 67 Corvette that was originally sold at Queen City Chevrolet.

Hi RobR,

I've actually seen this car about 12 years ago. I took some photos of these stickers. The owner invited me to see the car.

Thanks for sharing your photos,
Mike

RobR,

Did you previously own this green '67 Vette coupe with these QC glovebox stickers?

These shown stickers were extremely helpful to me when I went to view them in person. My '66 Vette was missing the right side "Car Needs Service" sticker when I bought it way back. It had evidence of a sticker being there at one time but was illegible. Many years passed until I was invited to see/photograph these shown stickers. The mystery was then solved.

Since then I've only found one other example of these stickers from another '66 Corvette listed on BAT. Sadly those were out of focus but were identifiable as the same stickers placed in the same locations on the glovebox door.

Thanks again for sharing these 3 photos.

Hi Mike, Small world! No I’ve never owned this Vette, I’m friends with the owner Dean and his son Jeff. I remember when you traveled out to look it over. I believe they said you were familiar with the area, possibly stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, Rob.

Hi Rob,

Wow, it is a small world! It's hard to believe that it's been 12 years already since Dean invited me up to see his '67 and these excellent stickers. I gave him a copy of an old Queen City sales invoice that I had as a thank you to him.

It was good to meet you all that day. And I'm glad that Dean still owns this '67. Yes, I am quite familiar with central New Jersey. Well, from what I remember how it used to be when I was stationed at McGuire AFB back in the early '80s.

I've done my share of research on these glovebox stickers and so far I've only found them on '66-'67 Corvettes. I'm hoping to find other year/car examples.

Please tell Dean and Jeff that I say hello. And I'd very much like to see this beautiful '67 again someday.

Mike

P.S. Special thanks to The Supercar Registry for uniting me with these old acquaintances!

Mike, Didn’t know if you had seen this, in the upcoming Mecum auction in Indy they are offering a 67 Yenko Camaro from Queen City Chevrolet that has a metal dealer emblem on the tail panel.

Hi Rob,

THANK YOU! This is exactly what I was hoping that someone would post! Now I know for sure that Queen City Chevrolet DID put metal rear emblems on the back of some of the cars sold from there back in the day. These Yenko Camaro photos tell it all.

Sorry for the late response Rob. I was away from this site for quite a spell. Just found your post. Thanks so much and thanks to The Supercar Registry, Yenko.Net!

P.S. Dean may want to check under his taillight panel/rear deck area for evidence of these metal emblem filled holes. Tough for him now but easy for me since my car is wide open back there right now on her body dolly.
