Beautiful car in an awesome color. Hard to believe that paint is original...pretty clean black leather interior, too.

----I hope I looked close enough at the add but it doesn't seem to ever say original paint! If so that's a good thing as it really does look like newer paint, Tony. Appears to be a very nice 70....Bill S

Another interesting block stamp...the H is over a U. Previous built car engine was an LT1, and a person on the stamp that day forgot to change the code ?
Nice looking car, not my first choice in color combos, but does go together well.

----Looked right at it. DUH!!! Still not sure about that claim. I bought a new 70 LT1 yellow Vert with black deluxe gut and the paint was horrible.....Bill S

Is that stamp good?
The interesting thing on the pad is that all the CTH pads I have in my files in the same VIN range are not done individually like this one. This stamp doesn't fit the pattern of other CTH pad stamps. That being said, many CTU stamps I have in the same range have the CTU stamped individually like this stamp was done originally. My guess is they individually hand stamped the three CTU letteres, realized it was an error and overstamped the H. This should have been ground out and correctly stamped if original. Removal of the paint would go a long way to confirm. I don't think someone can say for sure this is original or not original until the pad is paint free. Just my opinion. If original, it's very interesting and unique. So this stamp follows the pattern of CTU stamps, not CTH stamps.

I really like reading stuff like this from you guys...:flag:
Seems crazy to downgrade an LT1 to an L46, but back in the day, maybe for insurance purposes ? As you most likely know, by the mid seventies the insurance industry was attacking muscle car owners with stupid rates.

I had a 1970 coupe L46 M21 with 4.11 and at the same time owned a 1970 LT-1 M21 with 3.70. they were pretty close in performance. Yes, the LT-1 would pull and rev a bit harder but the L46 is no slouch. This car looks to be a honest 40K mile car by the photos. It's pretty rare for a 70 to still have the original front grilles being a one year only. The side grilles are a one year only too and they look correct. The spare tire tub is in extremely nice shape with the lock in place also. I'd like to bid but unfortunately I have no more room and I refuse to rent especially the cost they are getting just for one bay ($375) here in the communist state of Taxachusettes.
