560 cubic inches max for BBC, and anything goes on interior engine mods, as long as it breathes out through the cast iron exhaust manifolds and a 2 1/2 inch exhaust system. Otherwise, the class is what it says, Stock Appearing.

Here are the rules. fastdrags.com/fast-rules (https://www.fastdrags.com/fast-rules) It gets expensive to run that fast. Vewwy, vewwy expensive.

Bring all you got.... and hope you brought enough.

Ya I believe they also "ALLOW" BBc to use an aftermarket block as the OEM "512" usually "could" get to about 511 to 526 is about the pushing max inch limit.

I do think my ZL1 (475 inch) powered '69 Nova (for now) will push me well passed the 9.50 mark. BUT we have headers and will use slicks and a few other things they don't like in that series.

I built the car as a sorta day 1.5 of what "could" be done with mostly factory stuff and a bit of "normal-for-the-times" aftermarket stuff. I never planned to run the series and have a few chats with some of them and go input from Dudek and Carey. As well as the guys at BES that did Lanes stuff.

It is amazing how quick they run on the stock size tires.

"Stock appearing" allows more modifications then and "Pure Stock"

here is a list of fastest Pure Stocks

wonder what the ET of #22 would be with 456 gears?

I believe it would have been the winner. Et is very close to the winner.

Don't really think so? Combination of weight and 455 torque might have been to much. But I have never seen a .7 increase in gear make up almost 1/2 second? Especially on a "slick-tire" car. Mid .60's maybe, but could actually HURT ET in this case or also really through off the consistency where ya he picks up some on 1 run, and the next 6 are all over the place.

The Penningtons have been pretty tough in the FAST class and even the Pure Stock racing class many years ago. They used to run L78 camaros in the Pure Stock class and his wife I believe still runs an L88 Corvette in the class.

His dad runs an L88 in the FAST class and may still currently hold the record. He and Dave Dudek have been going back and forth with the record for years. Lane Carey I don't think has been a player for quite a few years now. I believe it's still an L88 vette that holds the record in the pure stock class too. That goes back and forth too.

Tony Bischoff is their engine program. My Dad runs one of Tony's engines in his own car.

I have my Firebird setup to run in the pure stock class. I've been playing with that stuff since the 80's. I've always enjoyed watching the FAST class but honestly it's just too much money to be competitive there so never built a car for it.

Just like any other Race car, looks stock
But not so much, lots of dialing in!

Love “Father of the Hemi” Chrysler engineer Tom Hoover at #10 in a ‘64 426 Belvedere on that list from 2012. What a fitting retirement adventure for that guy:).

Nice to see the L88 Corvette occupy 3 of the 4 top spots for pure stock.
