Doc Watson created the 1968 Hurst Old performance package. The conversions took place at Demmer Engineering. Excellent informative road test with the Doc Watson and Bud Lindemann discussing the performance details: 455 engine, head, cam, ram air....... The car is really put through its paces, both straight line acceleration and on the road course. Note they installed polyglass tires for this test.

Slightly off topic, but related:

I am still looking for better pics, but here is a photo of our '68 GTO, for discussion purposes:

All 68 Hurst Olds were equipped with G70-14 Polyglass as opposed to F70-14 as standard equipment on a regular 442. The HO cars has white stripe s tires where redlines were more common on the regular 442.

Interesting the "cold air" system with the flipped air cleaner lid! Were they delivered that way?

----I had a friend in Massachusetts whose dad owned a bank back in the 60's. My friend went to Berejik Olds in Mass in 1968 and bought a 1968 Hurst Olds 2-door post. He then proceeded to just about buy and have installed every go-fast thing that Berejik had to offer. That thing was a beast with 4.10's and he made mincemeat out of a lot of big hitters on the street around the west suburbs of Boston. At the time I was in awe!...Bill S

No they weren't. Because of this video, I tried it on back to back passes at the track and gained nothing. The AFR gauge went rich due to the warmer/less dense inlet charge.

"handles with the agility of a Bobcat.." lol, it looks Doc is hanging on for dear life in some of those turns. Is that the original cam they put in those.? Sounds pretty radical for a power everything car
