BBC Bontempo Brothers Compettion, 1539 W Blancke St Linden, NJ 07036 is closing due to the retirement of the brothers.
Amazing time capsule of a place. They were the best. You could spend hours just standing in the front lobby staring at the walls.
I had them do the rear ends in my Trans Am 15 years ago and my Cuda last year.
The parts they have stored away are astounding. Looks like they are selling out all of their stuff.
Retirement sale set for second and third week of Jun 2022

My local speed shop closed a couple years ago. They did work on my '67 Camaro and '55 Chevy and I was always happy to write the check. Super competent and close by. Now it's a NAPA.

So many great parts in those pics, so sad it is closing. I never knew about this being a bit more north NJ then I travel too, but I wish I knew about this place earlier!

It's an amazing place. The back garage area/machine shop has floor to ceiling racks of vintage engines, transmssions, and rear ends. The last time I was there, one of the brothers asked me if I could help him to ID a "hemi" A-833 four speed transmission he had. He thought it came out of a hemicuda. It still had the VIN stamped on the side and we determined that it was an 18-spline A-833 that came from a Lynch Road built, 440 B-Body.

My engine builder just passed away after a short battle with dementia. Most precision oriented guy I have ever met. Didn’t deserve it. Had a tattoo done of his Monza funny car. RIP Ric Deschner.

Sad. Shame there wasn’t a next generation trained and ready to take the reigns. I see this all too often. Hard to find young guys or gals that want to do it and make the financial commitment. Several of our local shops have closed. We still have Ohio George’s shop and fortunately his son is running it now so it hopefully will continue on.

----I remember when Jeg's was just a speed shop. On my way to Ohio U I would go right by Jeg's and always stop in. Got to know Jeg and used to go in his tiny office right inside the front door and shoot the s**t. He's a great guy!

I got to know Jegs sorta by accident about 20 years ago and havent seen him for maybe 10. They bought a farm that had llamas and his wife liked them so they started going to our local events. He didnt know any of the people so we got to talking cars. Nice people. His wife would have a christmas party and cooked most of the food herself. It was a good night
