What do you guys make of the engine stamp? Can't say I have ever seen broach marks quite like that - they don't even look to be parallel - maybe it's the angle of the picture?

It’s amusing that the seller draws attention to the “broach” marks in the auction description as a sign of authenticity….

I guess he was trying to help us out since most car guys don't know what broach marks are or have any type of mechanical background..lol..

Those are not factory "broach" marks. He also references a post on Camaros.net. Easy enough to go to that post and put up his pad stamping pic noting that this is an example of what fake, made up broach marks look like.

I'm pretty sure that broached surface is machined in the same operation as the surface where the head gasket is supposed to seal to the block.....can you imagine a gasket trying to seal against that surface? :haha:

The pad in discussion looks like it was done with a belt sander :eek2:

Finally, someone selling a car on eBay learned to photograph a pad properly.
Too bad that is the pad.

I talked to someone who went to see the car. Replacement fenders. Looks like the emblems are too far back? Terrible Panel Gaps . Paint is not going to last. Replacement radio, WAY to low in front, cut springs, no AIR, aftermarket WP, aftermarket deck lid? No Camaro emblem on it. Not a factory spoiler car. Original Distributor stolen, has a '69 in it now. The list keeps going. STILL no picture of the trans partial VIN. Says it is an M22. Has an " A " at the end of the assembly stamp. Some neat options. NO DOCUMENTATION! I think they think because it was in a storage container for 30 or 35 years in pieces, that it HAS to be a numbers born with drive train car. NOT!!!
Can't believe it's at 57K. I think the reserve is $62,000. That's what was on the "For Sale" sign. ... Danny

Bid up to 68K, Reserve Not Met. I am shocked he didn't take it. Maybe it's an offline sale to keep from paying fees? ... Danny

I suspect marks from a belt sander would have been more parallel.

Fishing expedition. He will/has to, let it run out and then contact the high bidder for a private sale. Fits right in with his vin pad MO.
