Here's a clean looking '68 with what is claimed to be the original mill. What do you guys/gals think about the partial VIN stamp?

Owner States: Please feel free to give me a call if you’d like to discuss. The engine has not been restamped. I’m not sure of your credentials but I’ve been doing this for a while. I judge concourse shows and I am recognized with the AACA. I have a lot of documentation on the car as well. I can promise you this is not a restamp. The block has not been decked. I am also a former machinist who has decked blocks and am quite aware of what a decked block looks like. This block certainly has not been decked. It has the correct date codes on the block as well. Feel free to call.

Owner states again: This block has not been decked or restamped. If it were the surface would be way different. Again, I’ve been doing this for a long time. As I said earlier if you care to call please do so. I don’t want to waste your or my time on this. I have known the car since new and I know both owners. It’s s 28,000 mile car. If you would like to discuss further please call me.

I told him I was a "nobody" and gave him the link to this post. Danny

Come on,that's clearly a re-stamp,even before Kurt & Charley chimed in.
Look at all the differences in nearly every letter and number, not to mention the metal pad striations themselves.
How can the owner of that camaro state his reputation on this,as it sure isn't helping his cause to sell the car,and even makes him look worse.

I hate to point out, but that's like a restamping tutorial with all those pics.

I remember seeing some details and pictures of stamps a long time ago. I myself commented on shouldn't we take them down. And the response was something like "the info is already out there", So I thought it was ok. Sorry... deleted.. Danny
