In the thread I had going on the injected 62 Corvette, I threw a teaser on the 67 I had bought. So, as promised.......here is the skinny on the car.
This is a 50k mile car that until recently was only in Oklahoma and Colorado. Ordered and purchased new at R.T. Ayers Chevrolet in Yukon, OK. Below is the option list.....
-L36 427-390hp
-M21 Muncie 4 speed
-G80 3.55 positraction diff
-K66 Transistorized Ignition
-C60 4 Season Air Conditioning
-QB1 7.75-15 4 ply Red Stripe Tires

I purchased the car from the 2nd owner (Dave, who purchased the car in 1982). The car was black when Dave bought it. Dave stripped the paint shortly after his purchase and had the car repainted the car in 1982-83 in it's original Goodwood Green. It was represented to me as a no hit car which once I got the car, I had no reason to doubt. More on this later.
When Dave bought the car in 82, it had 43k miles. One change Dave did make to the car (as he did not like how loud the sidepipes were) was to change the rear gear ratio to a 3.08 from it's original 3.55. Dave used the car sparingly and the more time wore on, other interests took priority. Any parts that were ever changed out, Dave held on to. I have many of the original items such as radiator hoses, original Holley carb, 3.55 gears, original DC stamped master cylinder, and some miscellaneous smalls.
Dave was told by some others that the tank sticker was still in there. Dave never himself went after it. The car arrived about 9pm in the evening and you can guess what one of the first things I did...........pull the rubber on the fuel filler to see if it was there:grin:
So, here I am at 4am the next morning headed down to the shop to get the fuel tank tore out. I removed one of the nicest tank stickers I have had the pleasure of seeing. Immediately, I send off for the validation from NCRS.
I have been through the car from one end to the other, top and bottom. I tuned the car up, Eric Jackson did his thing on the original carb, changed all of the fluids, and addressed a few small items......no big deal. A new set of shocks, new redline radials, and I'm on the road. All of the original chassis parts are intact, all 5 DC stamped wheels (in EXCELLENT condition) original redline spare, 2 of the original redline tires. The car still possesses it's single crimp brake hoses to boot!
The only item that is not original to the car (dated or not) is the T.I. distributor. Another item.......more on this later.
Armed with the original owners name and some limited information provided by Dave, I started my search to see if I could locate the original owner. Dave had told me Annee was into quarter horses above and beyond her love of horsepower. Between Google and Facebook, I came up with some possibilities. I had reached out to a person on Facebook but received no response. I also had a clue that one of Annee's daughters had a dental practice in a suburb of Oklahoma City. So, one day I make a phone call.
The receptionist at the dental office was cordial to say the least. I even prefaced our conversation by telling her this conversation was going to be out of the norm. When I explained what I was trying to do, the receptionist was reluctant to help. She did tell me she'd pass on my contact information, but may have written me off as a creepy stalker (who'd guess?:dunno:)
Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I get a very long and sincere FB message from the original owner Annee Miller (Keen). To say she was ecstatic is an understatement! Like many times, once you find any previous owner (much less the original owner) you get answers to all of the little mysteries a car can have. We were able to connect a few days later and have had a few enjoyable conversations.
Anne is now 74 and quite the personality. Anne and here Husband are in Oklahoma and raise / show quarter horses. She never has lost her appetite for cars and power.
Annee told me how she had worked through middle school and high school to save money so she could order a Corvette. She went on to say she certainly wanted a 427, certainly wanted A/C, and the sidepipes. She also had originally ordered the car in black!! According the Annee, the black was holding the car back from being produced. It then came down to Malboro Maroon or Goodwood Green to which she chose the green. Annee also went on to tell me she was talked into the transistorized ignition at the dealership. Annee was 19 years old at this point.
Annee's father Frank had cosigned the loan for the car to help with the purchase. Annee had added the obligatory 5 spoke wheels, but the car remained largely stock. Shortly after buying the car, the T.I in the car gave nothing but fits (stranding here more than once). T.I boxes were changed out, as was the harness and distributor. I gathered from her the dealership was not helping with regard to warranty. As a result, it was changed over to a conventional point type distributor. Later on, a traffic accident had damaged the passenger door. It was at that point, the car was painted black as she originally wished.
Later on yet, the car was stored at her Dad's farm in once of the barns. It was at that point, the 5 spoke wheel / tire combination was stolen from the car. Hence, the reinstallation of the original wheels and tires.
Anne told me about her 1st husband Eddie Miller. Their love of all things racing, speed, and quarter horses, was a common bond for them. Eddie was a competitor in Formula 5000 and also a Formula Super Vee Champion in 1975. It was through Eddie, Anne had gotten here SCCA license and competed in a limited fashion. Eddie later attempted to qualify for the 1976 Indy 500, but had a horrific crash in practice that nearly claimed his life.

Eddie and Annee divorced in 1982. It was that event that triggered the sale of the Corvette in order to have the funds to move her kids and herself back to Oklahoma. Anne spoke of how troubling that period of time was for her, as the Corvette was far more than just a car.
After Annee and I had connected, I sent her pics of the car as it is today, along with all of the paperwork and pics that had accompanied the car. The one item that really tugged on her heartstrings was the loan payoff with her Dad's signature on it. Anne's Dad Frank had died in a plane crash testing an engine for the FAA.
It seems as hardship is one of those things that constantly plagues Annee. In 2013 the home of Annee and 2nd husband was stuck by a tornado. Sadly, many of the family mementos (along with other vintage pics of the Corvette) was lost.
