Hi All,

We’re selling this for a friend. Cool rig that was built by Collins Brothers Jeep in TX. Now it’s a fun beach and fair weather cruiser that be had for a fraction of what it cost new.

LMK if you have any questions?

Thanks,
Dan

Thanks guys! We’re selling it for a friend whose husband died and unfortunately the Jeep just sat. We got it running great and prepped it for the next owner. We always knew the Jeep world had a cult like following but never as cult like as we’ve experienced lol!

GLWA!

I am really interested in that FI system. I have a 1985, which is a BaT refugee, and that carb just sucks ass. I don't love carbs in the first place, but I really hate carbs with wires coming out of them.

Any idea on how arduous the Howell install is?

We had a Collins Brothers 2005 LJ also, they did a decent job on the refresh work.

Why don't you let our resident carb guru, the "Vintage Man" Eric Jackson take a peek at your carb? I bet you will like carbs after he does his magic.

Just an idea.....

I wish I could help more but I don’t really know much about the system - this rig is a bit out of my wheelhouse. Apologies for that.

I have a Howell system on my FJ40. It’s a bit of a pain. I hear better things from the Holly Sniper.

BTW I have spoken to Howell’s Tech folks multiple times and they have been great! Truth is it may beyond my limits and I have asked them for a referral so I could have it looked at here in Mi and that has yet to be realized.

Not sure if Eric will work on this Carter, but I can ask. A few years ago he was out of the Q-Jet realm when I had one of those that needed restoration, he was only working on Holleys at that point in time.

Crown makes a replacement carb for this application, and I have had good results with their products in the past. I have one sitting here on the shelf and I will get around to trying it on sometime, soon, hopefully.

Yes I’m only 30 mins away but they do not service them at their location AFAIK.

And I thought I knew a few things about carbs.....I had never heard about Crown carbs until your response.

Did a little research and Crown appears to be Japanese. They been manufacturing carbs since 1955, and ventured into the OE world in 1966 and became the supplier for the Toyota Corolla that year.

I always tell my girls that if you don't learn something everyday, you wasted the day. Now my day is complete.....lol.

Thanks......Paul

----Don't know what to say, Crush. I will say I'm surprised, but now that I think of it I have never seen any vehicle being worked on there. They couldn't turn you on to somebody local even?....Bill S
