69 Camaro daily driver

Dude drives it everywhere year round in Idaho. I know my Dad did it for several years in MN in the early 70s, but I’m trying to imagine driving in a blizzard on Polyglas tires.

I bought a '67 Camaro in 1971 and drove it in the winter for 2 years. 3.08 posi rear helped and polyglass snow tires. That car went thru crap my dad's '67 C10 wouldn't go thru.

I drove my ‘69 442 Post car winter 80/81 then ‘70 ‘Velle the next year, both worked awesome w/ snow tires.
Sounds dumb now but everything was cheap and plentiful then, I’d paid $200 for the original engine 442 and drove it home also only $45 for the ‘Velle Coupe w/ 307-T350 and 57,000 original miles!
Crazy times, take me back…:burnout:

The roof rack is the best part. I wonder if he has a trailer hitch as well. I drove my 69 Camaro conv through college in Rochester NY and even with the non posi rear it did really well in the snow. I always thought those cocktail shakers helped get weight out over the corners which aided traction.

My Aunt was still driving her Dusk Blue 307 69 graduation present in the late 90's. Mint SoCal car.

My university car was a '69 340 Swinger....snow tires,block heater and two 50 lbs. bags of sand in the trunk....no problems!

Ski racks, they clamp on the rail. Very popular with the swinging skiers back then. The Camaro I had, I bought from an avid skier who was on a rescue patrol, so he got free room every weekend at the resort at Lutsen, MN. My rails had plenty of scuffs from those racks getting put on every fall. Car had 100k on it at 4 years old... we drove 'em back then...:wink:

Below pics how some of us here in the snow belt got around as kids in the winters before we had our own cars.
New boots didn’t last long also you had to be careful your mitts didn’t stay stuck to bumpers when you let go.:crazy:

I believe he ran studded tires at one point given the heavy snow out there.
