Nice car - amazing (to me) that the bidding is already in excess of $150k with the reserve not yet met.

I'd say the bidders are either shill, or uninformed. It has the remaining bracket for power steering which was not available on a solid lifter car. 250 or 300hp only.
Good looking car for sure!
Good eye, Tim. Cross drilled rotors and disc brakes on the front. Certainly, no pad or trim tag pictures also raises concern.

Not seeing fins on the back side of the balancer either.
Love the laid back aftermarket antenna :rolleyes2:

----How about the lack of the water pump to intake bypass, as well as a decent amount of front clip work. The rain gutter under the hood is missing the lip and the bond between the inner fender and outer fender is not well done.....Bill S

Are '63 SWC's really this pricey?

----I think a lot of 63 coupe guys are chomping at the bit to sell these cars at this monetary hight as they are thinking the bubble will burst. Also, many have had thier cars for quite awhile and are looking at the big profit that may go away. The 63 ZO6 big tank cars started this mania. Hard to tell if it will continue....Bill S

Really good 63's (among everything else) are pulling strong money. Then the rest of the market gets disillusioned thinking their car is worth the same money. Cars that are VERY authentic are hard to find and / or not cheap to restore. I don't have to tell anyone on this forum how outrageous parts are........when you can find them.
While strictly my opinion, the "tweener" cars like those shared in this thread are way overpriced and an educated buyer will pass on them. Also, first to fall when the market has a correction.
Arguably, the 63 SWC is one of the most iconic cars GM (or any manufacturer) has ever produced. I love to look at them myself. A car to drive? 64-67 will always be a better bet.

Here is a sampling of the results for split windows listed on BaT to give you a feel for pricing - I agree with Tim's comments above so take the following with a grain of salt.....:

I agree. They're my favorite to look at and special to me (since I'm a 1963 vintage myself), but I also prefer the better driving car.
