Hi sYc Gang,
I have a set of used (and they look rechromed) SBC Chevrolet script valve covers.
I can't be sure if they're re-chromed original chrome pieces or if they were orange painted and stripped / buffed and chromed. You can see some polish swirls if you examine closely.
They were recently removed from one of those those "6-4 Impalas" - you know the kind, boxed, chromed control arms, with 50 hours of engraving on them, 13" rims and full hydraulics that can park on three tires all with 75K of paint work...
They are presentable and look nice in person IMHO.
Both have the "O" stamping of course , but one takes a bit more imagination to finally notice, but these are certainly genuine GM units. The one has the two wire hold down clips, one bent up. The other does not of course. These are almost certainly rechromed, but still original. The script looks a bit worn from over zealous polishing maybe, but they are what they are. Not getting easier to find, these original parts.
I'm uploading a lot of photos to give the exact condition FYI.
These are very nice & presentable as shown. Not perfect, but very passable, again, IMHO.
