Smog muffler 1969 z early build

I just got a early survivor 69 z pre-x code 09c when did they stop putting the support wire on the muffler for the smog system I'm looking for one if it requires one or is this wrong to put on

I have a day2 take-off pump and manifolds all dated March of 69 and it has the support wire. The pump is dated 062 and appears to be all original/untouched but I can't verify it is. This might be one of the latest dates with the support wire.
