A guy in The Pro Street Era group on FB shared that he owns the car now and asked people in the group whether he should restore it:

John, you should ask him what is left of the original stuff. Quite sure SunPro were not the right gauges when it has a speedo, or auto with quarter stick???
Yes he should restore it as close to DynoDons livery as possible! Or sell it to someone who will.

I think those are Mercury Comet tail lamps.

Keith, good catch. Mavs used a 1 piece tail light much like a Pinto.
I'm not sure this is a OG DYNO DON car? Tail lights, auto trans, paint is wrong, hood scoop is wrong. Just lots wrong by those pictures.

In the FB conversation some folks are saying it's a tribute for various reasons (what cars he actually campaigned then).

I have to agree. I believe too Don used the big Ford 427 Cammer Engine in his Pro Stock Maverick.

----I also am a big doubter on this one, This is no world record contender! Just for starters, almost no body mods(IE wheel well work for big slicks)!....Bill S

Yes there was a Ford 427 SOHC engine under the hood. His experience with the Boss 429 (bad) moved him to go back to the 427

This was Don's Maverick. Big 427 Cammer. I saw Don at a Super Chevy Show years back at US 131 Motorsports Park Martin Mich. One of the nicest guys you would would ever meet. Signed a picture of him with his 62 Chevy Belaire he was drag racing that day.
