March 1978, I'd only owned it a few months. It came from a dry climate in far western rural ND so the minimal I drove it in the winter didn't harm it much thankfully!

Here are a couple pics of our L78 convertible courtesy of the original owner. He owned it for one year, put almost 40K miles on it and used it daily to travel to work locations all across Manitoba, Canada. He says he didn't like it much in the winter! Note the snow tires, and trailer hitch. Also, fog lights and front tires. Apparently he traded it off in 1971 on a large Chrysler product-A Newport or something. He can't remember the Chrysler much and says he has no pics. I've tried to attach a pic of when Vonnie and I took the car to his home a few years ago and took him for a spin but the site won't do it-file must be too large. I'll see if I can sort that out later. That was a great day when he got to see and go for a ride in his old car after almost 50 years!
BTW Bill, nice sled!

My friend Bill Lange's butternut yellow '67 Z. Faded pic makes it look white.
I remember driving my '69 Corvette from University of Wisconsin to Chicago in the snow and sliding off Hwy 90 in a blizzard. A wrecker hauled me out and I was back on my way.
I had a pretty passenger in the car with me and the heater was not working in the car. She found another ride back after the Holidays.

My parent's house, circa December 1977. The day we brought my brother's newly purchased LA-built SS396 4-speed, home from purchasing it from Vinny Racalbuto in Orange, Connecticut. (I'll always remember that distinctive name).
My 16 year old brother got this "consolation prize" after I got accidentally got my 1969 Z11 Pace Car at age 14. We were a large family of 5 kids and my Dad could never remember who was who and what our ages were. So when I said I'd like to someday buy a Camaro with my saved up money from 14 years of birthdays (I was a frugal kid), he let me buy my Z11 for $2,700. We got it home and the first thing my Mom does is walk out in the driveway and confronts him. "YOU KNOW IT'S HIS OLDER BROTHER WHO JUST TURNED 16 THAT NEEDS A CAR. THIS ONE IS 14"
So my Dad immediately went out and found this S396 for my brother in the want ads in the New Haven Register and bought it for $3,500. I don't even think my brother chipped in any money either. Damn!

Yes, it was. It is kind of unique-Shadow grey, blue vinyl bench, M21, power windows, power top and no ZL2. At some point we will do a "light" restoration but we drive it and want to keep doing so won't be doing a full resto anytime soon.

Me digging out my 70 SS-350 Camaro in Colorado Springs in September 1984. It was a stock car when I bought it in 1980 and by '84 had repainted it and added a bunch of Z28 parts, (rear spoiler, rear bumper and added the stripes)....original parts were plentiful and cheap back then!

Yes Pete, '77 340 RV, I beat that thing to death on the woodland trails of Northern Wisconsin
All my car buddys had snowmobiles and the Arctic Cats and Polaris could blow by at 100 mph on the lakes, but on the trails Joel (original owner of a '67 Z28) and I with our RV's would run away and hide from them.
I also had a '76 RV 340 that came with an instruction manual to modify for racing. Should have kept that one!
Previous to the RV I had a '75 Sno Jet SST 440 with a Yamaha SRX engine. That one was fast and fun, steer it with the throttle sprint car style.
I could write a book on snowmobile shenanigans! :beers: - Bill W

Easy peasy, just back up to a snowbank of roughly the correct height and drive her on. The old sleds were a heck of a lot lighter than new ones so lifting the sled to close the tailgate could have been handled by pretty much anyone. Speaking from experience as I had a couple of '74 TNT 340's back in the day.

November 1918, my Grandfather's 1917 Willys Knight. I know that it had the unique sleeve valve engine, but was it the optional 65 hp V8?? Which might qualify it as a musclecar??
I'm sure my Dad's technology minded older brothers had a hand in choosing this car. The building in front of the car was the original farm house, converted to a garage/shop with a drive over service pit like the quick oil change places today.
Story is that one of my Uncles was drafted to serve in WWI. His brother drove him to Fort Des Moines to enlist, 240 miles round trip. Note tire chains. When they got there he was told the war is over, go home. - Bill W
