View Full Version : 55 Nomad, factory AC and power windows. BAT
Wow. Just WOW.
AND power seat.
Needs paint from a poorly done paint job in the 80s.

Realistically, what is a fair price for this car?

Are those the correct ac vents ?
If not, they look close:

I have only seen one Nomad in person with factory AC. I don't think it had a center vent in the dash, which I thought was odd.
I am far from a TriFive expert. Would be nice to hear from someone who knows.

It's at 32k this morning and as far as I'm concerned, already at a max for the amount of investment it will take to make the paint right.
But, someone will HAVE to have it and bid it to over 40.
You are probably correct. I was thinking $35k, assuming the underlying metal is all in good shape. I am betting his reserve is above that.

No Cooper Cobras, but those big ass dice make me cringe.

What’s wrong with the dice? I guess they are hard to uninstall.

I think it will hit $50k and sell.

You're probably not far off. If it was a 57 Nomad with these options, I would be all over this car. Bill

They make cringe.
No offense intended. You do you.

Here’s some info on the factory A/C system in this thread https://www.trifive.com/threads/1955-factory-air-conditioning.156241/
(Not to be confused with the Chevrolet dealer installed A/C kit that wouldn’t be as extensive as a factory setup as far as equipment and mods to the dash, etc)
It sounds like it was quite a rare option (someone suggests 500 or less) and you have to figure that most of those were likely in loaded 4 door sedans and wagons. One guy talks about needing 8 years to piece together all of the components for a restoration and the projected cost of buying parts then making it functional.
I bet having what looks like a complete system along with the “AC” on the trim tag makes the A/C a +20k add on this Nomad. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the bids hit $60k.

I LOVE THIS THING!! Why won't my garage get bigger while I sleep, like my beer belly does ??? I need more room!
Trim tag suggest came with the AC and a tinted windshield, but not the power windows or power seat. Looks like the restorer in the 80's added everything they could get their hands on.

I would paint the door and the cowl filler panels, touch up the rest, and drive the wheels off of it!! (Just not in the rain.) Deal with a full repaint later, AFTER you’ve been able to thoroughly enjoy it without fear of getting a chip or ding along the way!
Once it is repainted it will likely be back to little to no use, like the deceased prior owner (RIP).

Raise the roof on the garage and add a couple lifts.
OR, have a pole building put up...

I have a friend who bought a dead stock factory a/c '55 Nomad from another friend who owned it forever, and promptly resto-modded it  including LS with modern a/c.
If there are any questions, I could ask him, or he may have parts that were removed?? - Bill W

Jeff: WS on the trim tag indicates power windows and power seat.
Frankly, I like the 55 Nomad better without the rocker trim or the extra bumper chrome, which I assume they call bumper guards.
I can live with it. The only think I really don't like on this one is the stupid looking visor.

Ah, OK. I looked at one site that said WS was tinted windshield and EZI was all tinted glass. That's what I get for believing the internet ...
