Is this a fake trim tag?

Thanks in advance,
Ray

It does not match well with a real 04C tag.

The rivets appear to be repro pieces.

This tag is on a RS, 327, power glide car. I’m not sure why someone would change the tag. The car isn’t cloned as a Z either. Who knows these though.

The oe tag may be missing. Color change is another reason.

What's the VIN?

04C build date with a 327 ?? That seems way too late for a 327.
And, according to CRG, an X33 code is Z28 ??

I am NOT very knowledgeable on '69's, just reading on CRG about the info on the tag makes what you described confusing.

What's the VIN?

VIN 124379N531404

The car is Orange with Black vinyl top with White standard interior.

Mitch yes the X33 code is for a Z28.

It’s a very decent driver type car.

The VIN 9N531404 corresponds to a early Nov 1968 build date. This does not match the 04C (April 1969) build date on the Trim Tag.

Yes, November builds are pre-X code too to add to what Tinkerman said... Something doesn't match up for sure so I'd say cowl tag is the weak link

Definitely a reproduction cowl tag. :bs:
