1968 Chevelle trim tag

A friend bought this recently, it was his dad's in the 70's.

Any help deciphering the tag?

The only thing I know is that it's a real SS with the 138 code (up to '68).

Just like a '68 Camaro, John. Not much there for info, built 4th week of May at the Kansas plant with Black bucket seat interior and Red with Black vinyl top. As Mark said, the 138 body style was the SS only designation, which would have come with a 396 engine. No way to tell which one.

Damn, be a shame if someone cut up an original SS hood. Maybe it's an aftermarket ?

That poor SS hood. Looks like a cool car. Probably pretty quick in it's day.

Yeah his dad bought it in 1976 raced it until the 90s, sold it then. His son bought it back last year.

Car has 3 hoods. Car has had a lot of powertrain combos over the years. Maybe one of you guys will recognize it.
