----My 1st thought was what's the frame like, and it appears awesome. With that said if sold for any reasonable price this would be a great resto project. If I wasn't so old, I'd jump on it! Not the best color of course, but that LS6 drivetrain is a big, big plus!....Bill S

I was interested in this car when it surfaced. I called and asked what they wanted for the car. I was told to make an offer. I didn't. Then was told that they would reveal the high offer so far that was turned down, and that offer was 120,000.

I wonder how they like the current bid of 39k ??? It will probably jump a bunch in the final hour, but I doubt it will top 120k

After they told me the offer that they received, I commented that they probably should have taken that offer, even though I have absolutely no idea on what that car might actually be worth. (That was before they knew the engine would turn over or before the paperwork was found in the car.) They replied with a good laugh. I’m glad to see it go to auction so we can see what someone will or would have payed for it.

Now that they posted the birdcage pics, I can safely assume they regret not taking that offer (if all told is true).

After seeing the posted pictures of the A pillars and the inside of the Birdcage, I can see why. Bill
And maybe it is just me, but seems like the HP drop from 70 to 71 makes the 70 LS6, regardless of if it is Corvette or Chevelle, the one that really brings big money.

It's still the last aluminum head (and intake) solid lifter Big Block ever made, you gotta give it that, even if it does have a CE short block in it. The Green / Green just kills it for me, but what do I know? Bill

Green on green coupe, ce block. Paper is a big plus but I don't see over 60k.

Agreed. I felt there was 100k in restoration costs (with doing much of the work myself) for a car that has a CE block and is green. While I myself love the green on green, it's not for everyone.

Probably just a bit of grammar, but Lynn's note above makes it sound like the LS6 was available in the Corvette in 1970 and it wasn't. 450 HP in the Chevelle in 1970 only and 425 HP in the Corvette only in 1971 with aluminum heads and lowered compression. Then the LS6 option was gone, at least until the later reiterations of the LS engines came upon the scene.
Thx
Oliver
I did not know that. Was LS5 available in the Corvette in 1970?
Boy, do I feel like a dumbass.
That's why I LOVE this site. I learn something new on a regular basis.

Yes, Tim's highly awarded 1970 is an LS5

Yes. That was the top Corvette engine option in 70. There were a slew of different versions of the 454 slated for 70 (as detailed in the AIM), but the LS5 was the only offered BBC.
..and the 1970 Dual Snorkel air cleaner was supposed to be installed only on the 1970 LS-6 Corvette as well.
But neither happened for the Corvette,so the 1970 Chevelle ended up getting both. :)
