I have never seen a trim tag on a 67 Camaro like this Norwood built car. 4k- no color code any ideas on what that means? TY!!

I’m sure others with much more knowledge will chime in. But, I’ve recently read that it means “stripe change”. Potentially color change or deletion, etc., but that the stripe around the nose was changed. Hope this helps and hopefully someone with solid information posts.
Cheers,
Marty

I see what you're saying there. I am no camaro expert at all lol. I thought it looked odd as well.

The whole tag looks inconsistent with the depth of the characters. The 4k loos crooked and not properly positioned.

Yes, it's a modified faked tag.

Isn't March too early for a 4K?

Here's mine (verified by Jerry M)

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think there are some known late March 4K’s.

Some of the 67 Yenkos had a dash and some had a dash and a code and some didnt have a dash or a code.

Sean, are you familiar with the 4P that Luzl78 is referring to?

First thing first, I don’t claim to be an expert first gen Camaro person. Anyone chime in and correct me if I’m wrong you won’t hurt my feelings. The only 1st Gen cars I’ve ever owned were-are 67’s.
In reference to the L78 cars the first ones had the position 4 of the TT as 4P. That code was already being used for the 350CI cars. I’ve never heard as to why GM did this. Sometime in early April they went to the 4K code as is seen in most L78 cars.
If you see a 4P car don’t absolutely think it’s a small block car because it could be an early L78 car. Of course then you have to compare the vin and build date cross referencing things process.
JoeC explained the dash after the 4K well. I think this TT tag is definitely a poor example of someone trying to fake a 67 Yenko car.

To further complicate the 4P, pass around, code, it was used on early Z28 cars and later for L30/M20, 327 cars...
From CRG
The 4P code was not used at the start of production at either the Van Nuys plant or the Norwood plant.
Van Nuys started using the 4P code on the SS350 cars in September, but Norwood didn't start using the 4P code until October. Early Van Nuys SS350 cars and Norwood SS350 cars built before October will not have the 4P code to verify that they are SS's.
The 4P code can indicate either a SS350 or a L30/M20 (http://www.camaros.org/l30m20.shtml). Usage of the 4P code with the L30/M20 (http://www.camaros.org/l30m20.shtml) is believed to have started in the late December 1966 / January 1967 timeframe.

The very first 1967 Z28's and L78's were also coded 4P; the 4L and 4K codes were then used on the remainder of 1967 Z28 and L78 production.

The lack of a 4P, 4L, 4N, or 4K code indicates the car originally had a 327 (assuming the car had a V8, as indicated by the VIN). The only exception is the early SS350's noted above.

I didn’t know the 4P was used on that many different engine combinations. Hmmm 🤔.

Realize that there are only about 6 4P / L78 cars known.
