While at a bar in Az where I golf a fellow car guy member shows me pics of a Speedster replica he bought and loves. He likes it so much he ordered a second to be painted the same purple as his new Porsche. I have been wanting a old Speedster for years but they cost a fortune. I'm looking at his replica and it is killer and it's "ALL NEW" as in maybe won't need to be worked on all the time. Each time I turn a wrench I am bruised and bleeding as the skin on my hands and arms is so messed up from probably bathing them in solvent tanks at work years ago. He bought his from Mark Hubbard who has a collector car showroom in Scottsdale. I have known Mark and his Dad Dick for years. They have several in stock. They are made by Vintage Motorcars of Hawaiian Gardens Ca. He said I could order thru him or thru their site and the price would be the same. I intended on ordering one but got nothing done for a few weeks. Then I see one in his inventory almost exactly like what I would order. I picked it up Wednesday and drove it to my house. What a killer car at a fraction of the price of a real one. And it's all new. And it has more HP. Been running it around for the last few days. Put it on my hoist to see how well it was done underneath and was delighted. Mark usually has a couple on order as they are such good sellers.

That’s so sweet!:Can-I-Have-It: I was just looking into this being the next project for me, Charley, after the 507 is done later this year.

I was thinking Subaru EFI on it like the Beck Speedsters. I found an original 356C coupe that I was thinking on picking up and restoring too, but the allure of the Speedster can’t be denied!

How’s the room inside?:hmmm:

Love it!!

Cheers

If you go to the Vintage Motorcars site they have a Subaru engine option. Mark had one there as a trade in. I think he said it scared the guy as it was too fast.

Neat car with the classic look, but modern components. Really like that purple one. It's a subtle shade. Congrats on the new addition and enjoy.

Hey Charley, is the color of your speedster “Aventurine Green”? Beautiful car by the way!
Never mind, I just clicked on the link and it said “Graphite Metallic”. Those appear to be built really well.
Super Dave was the first person I thought of building one of these creations!
Congrats again. Looks like tons of fun!

Im with you Charley - I love the old cars, but it is nice to have one with the classic look, but not have to be wrenching on it. Your new car has that iconic styling. I’ll bet it gets “thumbs up” wherever it goes.

----Charley,,,I met the original owner of Vintage back around 1993. He was quite a character and a really good guy. His 1st name was Kirk and everyone called him Captain Kirk as he was also a licensed big boat captain. When I saw his operation and the method of manufacturing I ordered one (blue with saddle). They weren't as advanced as yours but were still a hoot. I no sooner got it home (when we lived in Cape Cod) and a woman walked up and said she wanted it. I had paid the princely sum of $12,000 and she bought it for $14,000. Was going to order another but other stuff crept up. I called Vintage not long ago to see if Captain Kirk was still above the dirt and I guess he is from what they said. The new owners have taken thier Speedsters to a whole new level from what I see in your pics. Sounds like you will have a lot of fun with it!!!....Bill S

Very nice. Do these reproductions have some sort of connection to Brazil, are the bodies made there?

The blocks are cast in Brazil but I think the bodies are done by Vintage in house.

----Way back with Captain Kirk the bodies were made in Mexico, fairly close to the border. Of course that may have changed....Bill S

Looks great. Are there pads between that aero and the panel in case they rub?
