I’m currently going to school on the ‘70/‘71 Shaker hood Challengers. I know where there’s what appears to be a real ‘71 hood. Unfortunately it’s currently attached to a documented ‘70 Shaker car. Probably not cost effective as a parts car.

For anyone interested, I’m no expert, but here’s what I currently believe to be true about Shaker hoods on Challengers. I’ll break them down by year.
Early 1970- manufactured until October of 69. No crumple zones. Top of hood is set up for the Fratzog. 5/16 bolts for install. Very, very, very rare.
Late 1970- manufactured 04/70 until 71 production. Crumple zones. Top of hood set up for Fratzog. 3/8 bolts for install. Pretty Damn rare.
1971- used for all 71’s. Additional holes are drilled for the 1971 style secondary hood release. No Fratzog pad. This is also the hood that was manufactured after 1971 for parts replacements. It’s what the original owner bought for my 1970 Challenger. Still rare but locatable. There’s been at least one for sale at Carlisle Chryslers every year for the last several. One used one and one NOS for something like 8-9k
Also something to note. Most books say ALL 1971 Challenger Shaker cars received black shakers. While that should be true, it isn’t. Some very early 71’s got leftover silver shakers. So depending on build date a 71 may be more correct with a “70” silver bubble.
Please note. I’m no expert. Just ask a lot of annoying questions when I’m near someone that is.

A couple of things I found. I wish the resolution of the hood pics was better, but it’s copied from an old internet posting. I found that there’s more parts to the Shaker setup than I had thought before I got into it.

This looks like a RT/SE that was dropped off at Park Place in Washington.
