View Full Version : Crazy auction item. Airplane Hanger
I think they are going to have to get a little more realistic on this minimum bid if they really want to sell this.
Understatement of the year: "Special transportation will be required."
You could build one hell of a workshop with this; but you may want to rethink that 75 foot wide door (that's not a mis print... 75 foot wide, not 7.5 foot wide!!).
Finished building will be 120 foot wide by 183' 4" long. Sure glad they added that last four inches. That's over half an acre, folks.
So, what do you suppose it would cost to pour a 1/2 acre slab?
Might even be too big of a shop for Charlie.

Just told Sherri we had to drive to Roswell to pick this up.
Asked if she would be filing a Petition for Divorce Monday morning at 8:31 (clerk's office opens at 8). She is a skilled para legal and the smartest person in the office, so she certainly could do that.
She really does love me. She won't be filing for divorce.
Said she would file a Petition for Guardianship instead, because if I bought this, I have clearly lost my mind, and she would have no problem convincing a Judge of that.
Told you she was the smartest one in the office.

Wow !!! They are wanting what they must have paid for it and the tax and premium would push that total much higher.
City of Roswell will charge sales tax. The tax rate will be calculated at the time of bidding. When sales tax is included, the buyer shall add and include the sales tax amount when making payment.
A Buyers Premium of 10.5% will be added to the final sale price. $60,000 in premium alone.
Then there is the transportation costs. It appears many of the bundles would require over length permits and escort service with many trips/trucks to get it all, which could cost into the 10's of thousands, depending on the distance.
And it is not suitable for any location that gets more snow than that area of NM. All fabric exterior with only a 10 lb per sq ft load rating.
While reading the size specs the ad lists, I saw it had a 29' tall door but they had the overall height of 26.5 ?
Looking at the spec sheet, the building is 46' tall with a door opening height of 30'.

I don't think they will get a bid. Stuff that odd will probably sell at scrap price.
Look at the questions. One guy offered $3k for "all that scrap metal".

It's been done before.....relocating an old hanger that is.
I live next to this local fly in community (C77) and back in the 90's they moved one from about an hour away.....see link below.
