20 + years have past since this article. How many have been resurrected, crushed or continue to deteriorate. Please share any pics of recent decaying cars you have found...

These cars have been in plain sight on a very busy road since I was a kid (I'm 46). They move around from time to time. The split window is the only one I care about, and I intentionally don't drive that way anymore so I don't need to get depressed.
There is a red 63 split window, another C2 convertible under one cover, and at least three C3's. The crown jewel is either the brown Eldorado or the Allante, obviously.
No, I won't share the locale in deference to the owner's privacy. These pictures are off Google earth. I am not a nosy person myself, and don't like nosy people...

'68 Z28 RS that's been sitting for at least 40 years. It was sitting in the dirt for most of that time, but got drug up on this concrete a few years ago. My brother tried to buy it 40 years ago, but the owner was going to fix it up some day.

This 1970 Pontiac Formula 400 is being dug out by a member of our Facebook group. He’s been documenting all the work just getting it out at this point. It’s a divorce, hide it in the woods story LOL…. 12Kmi, parked in ‘78. Amazingly, it’s in better shape than anticipated.
You can page thru and check out more photos / videos here. I think it should go on a trailer straight to MCACN as is!!

I've seen the progress pics on FB too, I'm surprised the car isn't rougher.

Don't have much back story on this one but picked it up near Denver a couple of weeks ago. No keys with it so had to drill the trunk lock and found a box of National Geographic magazines dated 1984 inside. Appears to have sat in outside storage since then after a fender bender. Real deal SS 454 W vin code car. Bucket seats and turbo 400 on the floor.
Plan is to hang another fender and install one of my 454 turbo 400 combos to get it running. Should be a fun ride.

How many times have we seen cars like this with low rent dimwits living in shanty's claiming they're "gonna fix it up someday." Then it sits exposed to the elements for years and years until it's beyond repair and/or they die and it gets sold of for peanuts or scrapped. They like the attention and having something people want.
Dumb.

Or they have a vision a dream but not the motivation or finances to do it!

I don't have any pictures but there is a house about a mile from me that had quite an assortment of cars sitting around it. I have been living here for over 25 years and most of the cars were there when I moved here. Here is a list of the ones I can remember, 1958, 1963 split window and 1971 Corvettes, 1968 Grand Prix, two 1940 Ford Coupes and an early 70s Ford pickup. All those were here when I got to the area. In the last 10-12 years a 1956 Chevy and a 1955 Ford Crown Vic were added to the collection. Both of those were very nice cars when they showed up but they never moved again. The 58 and 63 Corvettes were both covered with blue tarps and were rotting away. The owner passed away several months ago. Not long after he passed the family sold all of the cars.

lot of these cars didnt just sit somewhere, they were flipped a lot.
Resto shop i worked at back in late 80s had a rotten 70 LS-6 ragtop that was found in a junkyard in NC.they put it on jackstands and the frame in the front started collapsing.owner sold it quick.
also had a Daytona that was burnt up.sold that one quick too.
The Bristol Speedway Superbird Ray Everham sold was at the shop around 1990.Poor car was a POS.everybody took turns beating the crap out of it at lunch.
when i saw it at Mecum being auctioned i just laughed.
