Hi, working on my uncles old camaro, wanna check my vin to see what it is. 1968 camaro, vin #124378N380019, 01D on trim tag. Thanks! Jeff
All that tells you is that is was a V8 car, manufactured fourth week of January, 1968.
Not much to be gleaned from the VIN, and on 68 models, not much from the trim tag other than date of production (approx), exterior paint code(s) and interior code.
Is the tire decal still present on the glove box door? That can provide more info.

Do you know if your Uncle bought it new or Used?
Clicking on this link below, you can Order the NCRS Dealer Delivery Report that shows what Dealer your car was Originally Shipped to new, likely who sold it too but not always if Dealer Traded etc.
https://www.chevymuscledocs.com/
Also, whatever Engine(s) you have in or out of the car, note Castings also #’s Stamped into the Block Deck Surface that protrudes beyond the Front of the Pass. Side Head. Original GM Stampings should indicate what engine built for new also whether Original to your car or not.
If you want to dig deeper, there’s Transmission also Rear Axle Tube Stampings you can check too.
Welcome aboard Jeff!

I ordered the ncrs report, pretty neat, car came from Lang Chevrolet in Xenia Ohio. My mom grew up in Wilmington, very near there. The car was originally Granada gold with a 4.10 rear gear, still in the car. Gotta wonder if it spent some time at kil kare racetrack?

Great NCRS result as lots of performance cars were sold at Lang Chevrolet whose owner was Dick Lang, a well connected road racer we’ve discussed here in past threads.
Cool your car has the 4:10, is it a stick, what’s the build date also please tell us more about it.
Here’s a few pics also old Lang Ads w/ Camaros.

Hello Pete. Hey, neat pics, thanks for posting them! I really enjoyed the history of it all! The car is currently automatic, haven’t looked around for evidence of any manual stuff yet. Did find the headlight switch had the vacuum hoses still in tact, headlight doors are just wired open. Looks like 4th week of January is the trim tag build date. Interior is deluxe with houndstooth seats, tach and gauges on the console. Still has dual piston calipers up front. I remember in the late 80’s we couldn’t get calipers, had to have a guy rebuild what we had. Corvette is the same caliper I’m told?

----I saw my 1st 67 396/375 Camaro at Langs. White black interior. Nothing but racing options, and there was a set of OK Kustom part numbered headers and a spare set of 4.88's if I remember correctly in the trunk. I was looking for a 67 435 Corvette and wasn't interested in the Camaro but the salesman wanted to show it to me, so I checked it out....Bill S

Corvette calipers are completely different. Full simple car calipers will interchange but are a different number with pistons a little bigger too. Camaro calipers end in 530 and 533.
