Has anyone heard of putting a 502/502hp in a 68 or 69 camaro? I'm thinking of pursuing such a goal. I'm new to the camaro world, so I'm asking for reasons for or against it. This would definitely not be a daily driver, most likely a weekend driver. I'd like an extremely powerful off-the-line street-legal camaro. It needs to be able to compete with the 502 el co in town, and the assorted 5.0 stangs, rice rockets, etc. I live in a very vehicle-diverse town as you can see. Any other suggestions? I don't have the engine or the car yet. I plan on buying the engine first, so that's why i'm inquiring. Would I need to make any modifications to the car besides using a ford 9" rear? Thanks for the help.

notmiller,
This site is devoted to people who are interested in restoring cars to factory or dealer prep specs. I think that you are on the wrong site for asking this type of info.

As strange as it may seem to the other site members, we are just now starting to get ready to install a 502/502 into a 68 Camaro for a friend. It will have a 4 speed and a 12 bolt with 4:11's. As we get into the project I can give updates as to what we will find along the way. The car should really run well I hope. This is not a cheap upgrade....

notmiller: heres the Team Camaro BBS board link

They deal with mostly first gen camaros and pursue interest in other generation camaros.
