Try http://www.legendarymotorcar.com/69_copo.html . If you don't mind green, the car looks great and the price even better.

I wonder what they mean by "fully documented by General Motors". A.I.R. is missing. The column shift TH400 is kinda cool.

It always makes me wonder when dealers list a car with "correct" driveline components. To me, thats means that it isn't the original motor/trans, but one that has the codes that it should be. Then, "correct" suddenly means "number's matching"! Sure looks like a nice car, but for $44K it better have the VIN stamped by the factory on it.

Joe,

I'm thinking that the "fully documented" comment might refer to the option list available to owners of Canadian delivered cars from GM of Canada... Just a thought.

This looks like a car that was here in St.Charles Il.owned by Fred Nolan.
I went to his home in 1999 to see his 1969 Frost green COPO Chevelle and beside it was this Rallye Green 69 COPO Camaro.
Both were correct frame off restorations,Numbers matching Drivetrain w/A.I.R. and documented through GM of Canada by George Zepora.
I thought he sold the COPO Camaro for 65K.I do remember they were both column shift Auto. cars.
He may stll have the COPO Chevelle for sale.I saw it advertised in Hemmings.

So, any idea what cars (if any) that Fred still owns? Where in IL does Fred live? I have saw his COPO Chevelle in many magazines, but have never saw the car in person.

Fred lives in St.Charles Il.He injured his back severly working for Catapiller.
Everything is for sale.
I think he bought a Dale Earnhardt Camaro, but could be a rumor.

How far do you think it is from St. Charles to Collinsville? Does he actively show the cars any more?

So Mr70. Is Dave Simpson still around St Charles at all ? Do you know any of the Folks over at Dickey Manufacturing ?

I'd say he is as far from Collinsville as I am.5 Hours one way. When he injured his back,he changed. He is not very sociable anymore. He is weary of strangers and has good days and bad.I don't think he would enjoy the show.He was invited to the ACES Chevell-abration by Chuck Hanson, and hung up the phone on him.I would be happy to intervene for you,but I don't think it will help.

Charley
LOL.I know excatly what you are talking about. The IRS seized everything that company bought in the way of Antique cars.I think Dave is doing 5-10 with good behavior.I went to the Liquidation auction 18 months ago and was amazed at all the dealers buying.Dana Mecum,Tony Begley,Greg Graham,Midwest CarExchange. All from the Northern Ill. area. They have all his cars sold many times over by now.He really thought he could get away with it.

The IRS didn't seize anything. It was his 93 year old Step Father that was sick of him spending Company money on cars so he hired new Lawyers and Accountants and then Fired Dave and changed the locks on the Warehouse. I was getting close to buying a couple cars back when Mecum came in with a offer and bought them all.

Aw, come on guys! This was just getting interesting! Is this the same Dave Simpson that MCR did a Shoot Out with his cars a few years ago? You know, we Simpson's have to stick together, besides everyone know OJ was innocent! http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/laugh.gif

Yes that is the same Simpson. The Carolina Blue LS6 he got from me was the only car he supplied that would run in the 13's.
