There has to be a better way to post photos. I have them uploaded to web space. Or maybe I can't post because HTML is off ?

Charley, rename your pictures on your web server so that they have a ".jpg" file extension. Then edit your postings to reflect the new filename in the URL's that you posted.

If it all works out, you can do stuff like this:

http://www.corvettes-musclecars.com/charley/ma.jpg

http://www.corvettes-musclecars.com/charley/mb.jpg

http://www.corvettes-musclecars.com/charley/mc.jpg

Charley:

As you probably already know, Dexter and New Madrid are near the "boot heel" of Missouri, and are around 3 hours from us. For those geography buffs out there, New Madrid is famous for it's earthquake "fault line" (something you Cali guys can relate to). Anyway, none of those names ring a bell, but we haven't been at this Supercar game all that long either. Do the previous owners own cars currently?

Now for some helpful info. If you have looked at ANY of the previous Supercar Reunion pages, you have noticed a '73 Motion Corvette (http://www.yenko.net/reunion/rpvette.jpg) has been in attendance every year, and is owned by Rayburn Pennington. Well, it just so happens that Ray lives in Poplar Bluff, MO, which is about 1.5 hours west of "the boot heel". What is also good about this is that Ray is pretty knowledgeable about Motion stuff, and he even had Joel re-do his engine for the Reunion last year. So, I would suggest starting with Rayburn...oh, by the way...you've got mail, Charley!

Charley,
Just so that you know, Rayburn does not "do the computer thing". I was going to contact him today anyway. If you want to get in contact with him let me know. I am going to send him some photos, the other announcer at the track took pictures of the Baldwin Chevrolet property and the Motion building. For those of you that are interested Baldwin Chevy is now a "Rite Aid" Pharmacy and Motion is now "Speed World" a speed shop.

Charley, you're almost there with the image thing. Good job. If you want the images to show up directly in your posting, bracket your file names with "img" and "/img" instead of the "url" and "/url" you've been using. Looking forward to seeing more of your stable.

Awesome car Charley! That is incredible that someone would spend twice as much in drivetrain/accessories as the car cost new. Sure would like to see it in person at the Reunion going down the track w/the nitrous on!

Yeah, it would look great going down the track on those Square tires. They are Mickey Thompson Indy Profile, pretty old. Goes Bump Bump Bump down my driveway. I wish I could come but every Labor Day weekend there has been a group of us that drive Streetrods to Reno Nevada for a show called Last Bash. This thing has so many switches that I'm not even sure which one is for the Nitrous. It even has a second fuel pump that is activated with the Nitrous that has it's own Nozzle under the carb along with the Nitrous Nozzle. Another wierd thing is it has a Hei Dist. but has a external coil on the inner fender. Coil wire plugs onto the side of the distributor cap where the hot wire and tach wire usually hook up. Cool. Even has a Nitrous computer with timer switches. Looks like a digital clock. Even has skid plates welded onto the headers down by the collectors.

When I read about the skid plates on the headers it makes me think about the crowd that I who are and were New York streetracers. In the five boros and on the west side of Long Island the roads are very old and very well beaten. If Joel Rosen didn't do those type of things he would have been replacing headers for angry customers all the time.

The letterhead reads "Motion Car Service Inc." which is the first time I have seen that. In the late 70's it was "Motion Performance Inc." The GOV. stopped Motion from selling cars for use on public roads in 1974 but it appears Motion tried to get back into selling cars in the early 80's. He built and showed cars on the ISCA show circuit (something he also did in the late 60's). In the 80's he showed a 4 seater custom Corvette and built a IMSA TransAm for Kenwood Stereo. He also had a Magnacharged Motion Camaro showcar. I remember ads for a 1984 Motion Camaro and Monte Carlo that was mostly just fiberglass add on parts. I wonder if he built this 82 Camaro as some type of show car to get around the GOV regulations. Did you try to contact Joel about this car? Its a cool looking car. email him a picture and maybe he will reply.

It is a 1980 that got sent to Joel in 1982 to have the work done. I spoke breifly to Joel yesterday and he remembered the car and the guy he did it for but didn't remember much in the way of specifics. I was told that it even got shipped back to Joel for more work later but Joel said he doubted that. The second Magazine article was titled something like "How to spend a Half a Hundred", as in thousand. I think you could have bought a new Ferrari back then for what was spent on this car. The car is unrestored and supposedly only has about 13000 miles on it.

Unbelievable score! Can I ask how you tracked this one down? Motion is kind of the 'look for the unexpected' as far as supercars go but I'd love to hear how you found out about it. Also, I can't believe it didn't get canibalized by someone, as I'm guessing is the way most Motion-modded cars did.

So, Charley...have you managed to get in touch with Pennington yet? If so, did he know anything about your car or it's history?

Charley Lillard

Yes I talked to Raburn Pennington, nice guy. He didn't know of the car or the owners but he is going to ask around.
As for how I got the car. A friend was in Ky having his truck worked on. The shop owner took him back to see his collection of cars and there was the Motion car. I think he said he bought it in 89 and drove it once on the day he bought it but had never driven it since. Just thought it was a neat car. I believe the paint is a combination of orig. and what Motion painted when they did their stuff in 82. It even has a electric fan in front of the AC condensor with a adjustable rheostat that has a capillary tube that slides inside the upper radiator hose where it attaches to the radiator. My big problem is that it won't pass Emissions here in Ca.

Charley:

Too bad that thing won't pass emissions out there in Cali...I guess you will have to ship it back to it's home in Missouri for it's weekly start up and test drive! When can I expect to see the auto carrier here in front of the house?

Somebody buy Rayburn Pennington a Beer for me at the Reunion. He found the orig. owner for me. And Dummy me , there is the guys phone # right on the orig. Motion Envelope. Still has the same #. Jim Robbins is on the Net and I think will Stop by this site. Nice guy and is sending me some orig. pics of the car when he got it back from Motion. Engine was Balanced and Blueprinted with Roller rockers, LS7 rods. Dynoed at 510 hp and had a 150 shot of Nitrous on top of that . Said you could be doing 45-50 on highway and hit Nitrous and just fry tires. Also said that right arter he got the car back he got a Notice from Long Island Courts that Motion was in Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. He sold the car to a Chick Alston in about 84. Joel told him that the metal motion tags on the hood were the last ones. Ahh, this is neat. Hopefully he can come to the reunion and meet some of you Knuckleheads.

Great success story.Sometimes the previous owners of some of these cars get a real thrill knowing their car is still around and someone else is taking care of it.The 2nd.owner of my Y Chevelle was so happy to hear about it...sent him pics and a mousepad thatsomeone on e-bay is making with my (our) car on it.He is in the process of getting me a trunk emblem or licensce frame for me from original selling dealer.

OK, here goes... I have a 1980 Motion Phase 3 Camaro. The orig. owner was from New Madrid, Mo. His name was Jim Robbins. He sent the Camaro to Motion in 1982 and had just about everything but the Kitchen Sink thrown at it. I have Invoices that total 23,757.51. It has a LS6, Liberty Mopar 4 speed, 12 bolt Posi, Nitrous, Whale Tail. I have photos that I will try to figure out how to post. The car was in Missouri until 1989. Second owner was a Chick Alston,3rd. owner was Jerry Acord of Dexter Mo. 4th owner was in Ky. I am 5th owner. It was featured in March 1984 Car Craft. It was supposedly featured in another Mag but I don't know which one or when. Do any of you Missouri boys know of this car or of these owners ? Has anybody seen the second Magazine article ? It is Black with Tan int.
