There is a nice site with pictures of the James Garner Corvette racing team. The car looks a lot like a Motion Corvette with the stripes and LeMans style gas cap. I wonder if Motion based his cars on the road racing Corvettes of the day. There is a picture on the Yenko catolog of Don Yenko driving a Corvette with Garner and a woman in the car. Garner is holding up a trophy in what looks like a victory lap photo. Anyone know what the connection was between Yenko and Garner?

Great Pics.

While looking at them, I remembered being in that shop building, in the 1980's for an SCTA club meeting. The guy that owned it then, was big into salt racing. There also was an old drag car there that he had for sale at the time. In the late 60's and early 70's the car was running 10's. It was one of the few '69 Charger 500's. It had a fresh Sid Waterman Hemi in it with Enderle Injectors. The car still had the '60's Drag paintjob & lettering on it. The guy that owned it, also had all the neat Moon/McKay BBC Magnesium intake setups laying around. The Charger 500 could've been bought for $12,000 back then. <sigh>

I don't know any info. on Garner and Yenko relationship, sorry.

I have some Chevrolet Memorabilia with James Garner at Clippingers Chevrolet in Covina in 1969.
They mention that he is very active in California stock racing.
Maybe Don Yenko was too?

In 1968 the three best "shoes" were Guldstrand Bondurant and Yenko. All had extensive experience amd more importantly sucess with A prod FIA sports cars, Guldstrand and Yenko in Corvettes with Bondurant in Cobras. Yeah they also piloted the only Sting Ray to take on Le Mans. Guldstrand and Yenko also had great factory
( Duntov ) connections.
Don may have sold great Camaros but he was a hell of a Corvette Driver.

Don Yenko was known as a Corvette racer but in 1969 and 1970 he raced Camaros with Yenko sponsorship.
He won the 1969 Citrus 250 at Daytona in a 68 Z/28, ran a ZL1 powered 1969 Camaro at Sebring, ran six TransAm races in 1969 in a Z/28, and in 1970 ran a 427 Camaro at Daytona 24hr in GT/0 class was 28th overall 542 laps DNF. I am trying to find more info on the 1970 Daytona car. I was wondering if he ran the 69 ZL1 again or if he ran a 70 Camaro. All I found so far is the list of results on the race.
