When does the Nickey backward K start to show up on paperwork or does it. I was at a show this weekend and a local man showed up with a super low mile little old lady 1964 Corvair sold at Nickey in Chicago with all the original paperwork etc. I took pictures of the sales reciept and nowhere was the backward K to be seen. Just curious about that...BKH

I have an ad from 1966 with a Nickey crest on it in black letters with a red backward "K". Not sure what year they began using it.

I have a March, 1964 issue of Sports Car Graphic which contains an article summarizing the Nassau Speedweek. It has a picture of the hanger used as the remanufacturing depot with a Nickey service truck in the foreground and it already has the backward "K". I also have sales receipts from the parts department there as early as 1967 that use it as well.

Maybe the backward "K" was reserved for the hi-po stuff. Just a thought...BKH

Chris how about posting the sales receipt.I would like to see that.I was told no receipts or contracts had the backwards "K" if you have a receipt showing then my information is not correct and I would like the guy that told me this to see it also.So he can see he is not correct

Thanks

Bobby

I have a picture of a receipt for an engine purchased from Nickey in 1971. The bold face type that says "NICKEY CHEVROLET" does not have the backward K. The backward K was used on the Nickey crest and on the signs. There is a sign on the wall in a 1967 magazine article that says "IMMEDIATE DELIVERY ON NICKEY CAMAROS" and that sign has the backward K.

The 1967 receipt (6 1/2"X 4 1/2") has the backward "K".
There are several dated March,1971 to October,1971 that do not have it. These are 8 1/2" X 5 3/4". This is probably the version Joe has.
There are also 2 from Febuary,1972 where the backward "K" reappears. These are the same size as the ones from 1971.
If I can't figure out how to post these when I get back home next week, I'll send a scan via e-mail.

Attached is the Nickey receipt from 1971 with the K written normally.
Chris, If you have trouble posting the ones you have email them to me and I will try to post them.

Anything on the Nickey receipts with the backward K yet.I am eager to show this guy that (KNOWS EVERYTHING) he is incorrect. When I first started talking about Nickey this guy seemed like he knew everything about the place.I have to say he did know more than I at the time but have found out somethings he stated were not exactly true.I Spoke with MR STEPHANI and he actually cleared some things up for me.

The attachment is a photocopy portion of an actual sales receipt from Nickey Chevrolet showing the backwards K. It was used at different times from as early as 67 from the records I have and as late as 1972 (which is what the sales date on this one is) as per what Chris said above....................RatPack...............

Got a picture of the Nickey Chevrolet Scarab at the Meadowdale International Racetrack taken on 7/5/59. All of the crew are wearing white shirts, White pants with blue stripes and red hats. All of the shirts have a big backwards "K" on the back.

Pretty slick lookin crew.......especially with those hats!! The car is pretty cool too! What is it? I wasn't alive in '59 so I don't know the history. Its evident that Nickey sponsored the car. Is it still around or did it meet its demise on a racetrack somewhere? Is that a Cobra behind #23 or a Healey?

Sorry, didn't mean to get off the subject.

It was a 57 Scarab originally owned and driven by Lance Reventlow (Barbara Hutton's son). Sold to Harry Heuer later in 59 (September or October) to become one of the two Meister Brauser Scarabs, along with Augie Pabst's Scarab. They were campaigned for a couple of more years in that role. Augie Pabst's carried the number 50 in 59, and Number 1 in 60. This particular car was purchased by Harry Heuer Don't know what ultimately happened to it. The other car is probably a Healey, couple of Ferraris, Jaguars, Coopers, Maseratis. Several millions of dollars in present value cars there. This picture is 5 years to early for a Cobra. There is a 58 (or 59) Corvette way in the back right corner of that picture. I think it is Don Yenko's. There is another picture of him at the same racetrack in 61 with the #1 BP corvette.

Heres a 1961 Picture from Meadowdale International Raceway in IL. The front left cars are the two Meister Brueser Scarabs. The Corvette in the background is being driven by Don Yenko (the guy with his arm up).

Augie Pabst Jr. still races a Scarab at Raod America every July. I don't know if this is the car pictured here but it has been in the family for years. It is beautiful and extremly fast. It it one of those cars you never tire of seeing, especially sliding sideways on those skinny tires around a corner.

Their were A/C Bristols in 1959. Cool Pic, thanks for posting it.

The white one center rear behind the bug eye Sprite is a Bristol Ace.
