i had a gentleman from pa. contact me this weekend looking for an original clean silver body for a copo car that he says he has acquired that has been sitting since the 70s that he says is very rusty. don't know if the car is legit, but of course i inquired if he was interested in selling and of course the answer was no. just thought i'd see if this one might be real. any thoughts guys?

Lotsa undiscovered COPO's out there. The VIN and trim tag info should tell if it is real.

Interesting.

5 of the unknown ZL1s are silver.

William & EdC,

Do you know much about the #15 ZL1, which was also silver, per your data. In the Hooper 1969 book, on page 351 is a copy of the Gibb pre-delivery inspection sheet for ZL1 #15. This document lists Dick Harrell Performance Center as the owner. Was this Dick's car? I am only now starting to research the '69, 70, and 71 AHRA race seasons, after looking a bit at the 67-8 seasons while researching "Little Hoss". Any imput is welcome you have regarding the above.

BTW, I greatly appreciate all you have both done for the "hobby", although for some, (me included) this definition takes on a new meaning. (Bill, I'm the guy that also owns another white '67Z, we spoke years ago.)

To the best of my knowledge #15 was Harrell's race car. Years ago Bill Porterfield told me he knew for sure it still exists.

The '67 Z/28 is long gone, last seen on ebay a few weeks ago. Guess it sold again.

William,

That is good news! So far I have confirmed 13-14 cars attributed to Dick Harrell as his personal race cars. I have also found at least 5 other cars sponsored by him, and driven by others.

I still have my other Z, am trying to confirm it may have raced against Little Hoss in 1967-8. It came from Moline, Il., raced at Cordova, I think. 2nd owner(who wrenched on it for the original owner) is Roger Davis, does anyone know him? Builds rear-ends in Moline. I have his old # but can't locate him now.

William....Was that your White 67 Z on Ebay ? Blue Int. ? Did Doug Martz own it ?

Yup, that was it. Doug sold it to Jim Dyer Nov 97. From there it went to Michigan, Florida, Maryland. Wasn't quite finished when sold.

Saw it and the ZL1 regularly for 10 years. Neither Doug nor I ever drove either one.
