Well, after waiting 2 weeks for the widow I was buying to car from to verify a pick up date with my transporter...she called and said she changed her mind and no longer wanted to sell the car and sent me back my check. Her story is she wants it to stay in the family and is giving it to a nephew. Funny that I got about 4 phone calls from 2 seperate guys asking me if I wanted to sell the car even before I got it. I think one of them must have made her a better offer, since he had all the vin info, data on the car, and got my phone number somehow. So much for handshake deals. I guess I'll go back to looking for a clean clone....anyone got one for sale : )

I feel almost as bad as William...well, I would have bought the Yenko out of the salvage yard...just for S&G's

Sounds like there are some real sharks swimming around out there. That's a real shame. Are some of these guys in the CIA?

TXYenko,

Your story sounds similar to mine. I was going to buy a '70 Deuce and about two weeks before I was to go look/buy the car the guy decided not to sell!!

Hey guys, let's not forget that people do have the right to change their minds. It's not always a conspiracy, and , I think when prices are going up so fast on these cars, more people rethink their decision to sell, or, at least the price they may have quoted. As an example, I answered an ad for a car a few years ago that was in Hemmings for $28,000. Without knowing I was interested, a friend had called the seller and told him his car was worth much more. By the time I got to the seller he said Hemmings had misprinted the price, and, he actually wanted $48,000.! Just another way of saying he decided not to sell the car.

These things happen, maybe a call back in awhile may result in something positive. http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif Do you have any info. you care to share with the researchers of the group, for documentation purposes? Info like data plates, vins, may help with "grouping" lot orders of COPO's. Did the widow indicate if she had any old pics of the car? If the nephew really is getting it, maybe he should be told of this site. It sounds to me like this car may have been a COPO at least. Please e-mail me if you desire, or others who have this interest. Maybe some of the members on this site can come up with another car for you to consider.

My Aunt in Texas tells me she has a special X-MASS gift for me. Some assembly required.
