Is there anywhere that the cars on the registry can be viewed?

Yes I would like to know the same thing. Good question! Is there anywhere on the net or any publication that has all the cars that are in the registry? Thanks

Doubt it if you would find a brown 69 Camaro body #155017 in it. Might want to check "junkyards" in Wheeling W. VA to see if anything is registered there.

What are you guys wanting to see? Cars, or hard data (like vin#, trim tag, etc.)? If it's cars, then check out the feature pages, or past Reunion photos (as Brian suggested), as we have info on most of the cars in each. As for hard data, it is not on the net.

Was that a crack about Wheeling or is there a possibility of a car in a junkyard there? I live near Wheeling. I earlier posted about the $3500 Yenko Camaro sold out of Bellaire (which is now in Chicago I believe) and the shots of the yellow 427 COPO Camaro stored in the garage also in Bellaire which is right across the river from Wheeling.

There is an old junkyard in the area that has what is left of a '69 Camaro that the junkyard owner said originally came with a 427. There is no drivetrain at all nor subframe and the body is totally gone as in rusted out. The car was originally wrecked I believe and has been in the yard for 20-25 years. The yard built lots of high peformance engines over the years and did lots of auto salvage from mid '60's until about'85. Yard is closed as the owner is semi retired. Yard was originally a chicken farm and is way off the beaten path on an old dirt road. I went to see the owner about 5 years ago inquring about brand X parts. We were talking about the "old days" and old stuff and he brought up the info about the Camaro and actually pointed out the car to me
and said "There is a rare one sitting right out there"

Give me more info as I'm going to check into this further.
Dave

I think you will find that the rusted shell you saw in the junk yard has no trim Tag. Does it appear to have been Burnished Brown with a vinyl top ?

Hello Warren
It's been a long time since I've seen the car, and it was overgrown with high weeds at that time. Not sure of the color but thought it was a darker color-thought it was dark blue or dark green or black. The yard is actually in Ohio but directly across the river and within 3-4 miles of Wheeling. Could this have been the same place but used Wheeling as a reference point? There are 6-7, 175 foot long old chicken barns filled with old car parts but moisture/leaking roofs have ruined everything. I'm not talking anything of value but Vega hoods and rearends out of '78 Volares etc etc. The yards is owned by 2 brothers on the family farm who also built and raced stockcars and had quite a booming hipo engine building business back in the '70's. I have stoppped by several times but the gate to get on the property is always closed. The brothers went back to farming as much as I can tell . They do very limited work on the yard but they do bring in a occasional new wreck and rebuild them. Does any of this come up in the article?

my email is [email protected] I would like to see that article.
Thanks

Dave,
If you get back into that yard, get the #'s from it. VIN and cowl if they are there, but it sounds likely they are not. But the partial VIN from the cowl and by the heater box should help to solve this one and give this car a VIN, instead of just a body #. http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

WOW...My original question has taken an interesting, and as usual, informative path!

In my original question what I was curious about was to see the numbers of Supercars that are owned by members of this site. I.E. how many 67 427 COPO Camaro's are owned by members? How many Motions are owned by members? I think it would be interesting to know what cars are represented here.

Also how about an area for owners to post pics of their cars? I know Charley is a member of a club with a terrific area for posting pics....http://www.nastyz28.com. I would love to get to see some of the wonderful cars that some of the guys here have or know about. Like the 'groovy' COPO with the stripes!!

One more thing. It seems a lot of the members are in the business of doing restorations. How about an area (other than just the links area) that these guys can market there services? I think everyone would like to know what restorers are in their area and the work they can do for them. (hope there is no rivalry!!!)

I really think the site as a whole is amazing! I have only been coming here a month or so and I am in awe of how much information is available.

Just some thoughts and ideas.....

Okay, just have to ask. Given the discussion on the Burnished Brown car. Did RJ know it was not legit when he bought AND sold the car?

When it was pulled from a junkyard it was a plain old Camaro according to RD. Whether or not the owners after it was restored passed along the same story, including RJ, who knows....................RatPack..............

Whitetop, if you can post the section of the article explaining where it RD got it from then it might clear up some of the mystery.....................

I'm with AutoInsane, I think he has a good idea. That would also allow us to associate online names with real peoples names and their cars. This site as a whole is awesome, and I think an area like he is talking about would value for the experts as well as the rookies (me). Just my opinion.
