I sniff out, you are a DWEEB, with nothing better to do! Why dont you spend some time putting your car back together, that is still in boxes, or sell your old newspapers for a few bucks. Obviously you could use the money! Merry Christmas Warren. Love, Supersport.

Supersport,
Sounds like you a very frustrated man, or maybe just jealous. We don't need losers like you around here. Take it from me, your time would be best spent, in some third world country with your wanna be cars. Maybe you can fool somebody there! I'll bet you were a loser in high school, or didn't you make that far!!!!!!
Did the info from the article I sent you on the brown 69 Camaro body #155017 help you sell it? I see its not for sale on Ebay anymore. Would like to point out, if you had a very low reserve, and I mean extremely low, I might have wanted it as a parts car.
So Supersport in closing, why dont you try to make friends somewhere else, as you do not have any here!!!!!!!!!! Warren
PS Just for the record, the only thing of mine that swings both ways, is my clock pendulum, just incase you were using "Love" as a come on.

Hi Mike!
I got this idea after reading ChrisS posting on Advertisement for Yenko/Nickey cars.
Never know, might jar a few memories, or fill in a few blanks on a cars history. Every piece of info is important, and was hoping to get intelligent feedback such as yours.
My COPO car was advertised in the Penny Saver
a New York based paper, back around 1972-73. I myself wouldn't mind getting a copy of the ad, as that should lead me to the original owner. I could use the phone number as a starting point. I've been told libraries have phone books in their archives, and that would be the first place I would look. Warren

It would be worth a try. Who knows what you might turn up, even though it would be a long shot. What is the story on #155017?..BKH

Hi BKH!
The only thing I can say about #155017, is it wouldn't be anything I would be proud to own.
Wouldn't it be great if Chevrolet came out with the info on the cars such as Pontiac does? Then again, the owners of cars that are not worthy wouldn't be to happy now would they! Warren

Warren,
I don't think I have met you yet but have heard things, all good. We have a mutual friend, The Mayor of Fishkill NY who talks highly of you. Thanks for the heads up about the COPO...BKH

Warren, here's what I can "sniff out" of the ads:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="">quote:</font><HR>AT RUDY'S
321 ALLEN ST. 739-7650
'67 Camaro Yenko (2) 427 4 spd. 3195<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Searching for this street address in all of MA gives the following:

Bailey Motors
321 Allen St
Springfield
MA, USA 01108-1902
Phone: (413) 7364506

Perhaps someone at Bailey Motors knows what happened to "Rudy's" records
and can find a VIN or owner details for the Yenko sold in Jun-Jul 1968.

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="">quote:</font><HR>CAMARO YENKO 427 4-SPD.
Many extras. Cost new $5100. Must
sell $2950. Will consider trade. Call
543-2772<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Doing a reverse search on the phone number gives the following name and
address. Perhaps the guy never even changed phone numbers after all these years:

Shurtleff Robt
1964 Boston Rd
Wilbraham
MA, USA 01095-1055
Phone: (413) 5432772

Well now, who's going to be first to make the call? I just set the stage. I'll let you guys play it out!
Back around '81 a friend called me, and said a Yenko was for sale in Poughkeepsie NY. He gave me the guys phone number, I called, hopped on my motorcycle, and when I got there to my disappointment it was a '68 and not a '69. At the time I didn't know they had them in '68. It had the 140, big front sway bar, Yenko badge on the glove box door, and SYC plate near the courtesy light switch on the drivers side. No engine or transmission. $1200.00 could have bought it. I gave the phone number of the guy to the " Mayor of Fishkill NY" recently, but am not sure if it produced any leads.

Has anyone had any luck using this approach to find a car? It is time consuming looking through old newspaper classifieds but may produce a lead or two. What do you guys think?

Mike

P.S. Warren, I think it is an interesting post.

Fishkill,
Its not to far from Poughkeepsie Chevrolet, Inc. I purchased the family Suburban there just a few months ago.

So, has anybody called the number that Denis provided?? I'm having bad luck, got hung up on twice last week by two different people - guess I need etiquette lessons!

We have several ad's from Yenko chev. from back in the day, trying to sell '69 427 Camaros, Chevelles and '70 LT1 Novas. The ad's convinced 'John' to buy his Gobi Beige deuce, still has it! Next we plan to look for the accident report involving James Spencer and the Demo-Deuce.

I heard an old rumor about a blue 68 Yenko Camaro in NY area. It supposedly had been repainted but when they repainted it they painted over the Yenko emblems. So it had blue Yenko emblems on it.

I heard it had some rare option that allowed you to adjust the timing from the drivers seat??

My Buddies use to run around in a 68 Camaro that was painted purple. They nick named the car "The Grape Ape". They had kegs of beer in the trunk with lines running through between the seats. I have pictures of this car Before and After. I have pictures of the tags ,Door Tag, Vin Tag and Trim tag. I have to dig them out scan them then find out how to post them.I will keep you all updated. Cause iam curious as to where this car went to because it should have stayed in the junk yard where it last came from for the $100.00.
So long for now "Mayor of Fishkill"

I for one cannot wait to see the car. Are you saying it was retreived out of a junk yard? What happened to it then? Does the car still live in the NY area? Can you post any VIN /trim plate info?...BKH
