Can anyone tell me if there were any other supercars besides the B-M 68 SS427 Camaro that used the "SS427" emblem? Is it correct that this was the same emblem as the GM item used on 68 SS427 Impalas from the factory? Where was its exact location, and does anyone have any pics of a car wearing this emblem? TIA!

Ranier, this emblem was used on the 68 Impala SS427 on the trunk lid. It is a one year only emblem and was discontinued by GM just a few years ago. You can find them on Ebay every now and then for sale. The original GM number is 7752254, so keep an eye out for them. As far as any other supercar dealer using them I haven't seen any installed originally. I have seen them on some Chevelles here locally that had 427 conversions done years ago.............RatPack............

Motion seemed to like that emblem. (It is a cool looking emblem) It came from the factory on the rear deck lid of a 1968 SS 427 Impala. Motion used it on 68 69 maybe on some 1970s Corvettes Nova Camaro and Chevelle. I have seen some old Motion pictures showing them on stock chrome valve covers. They occasionally pop up on ebay as "Motion SS427 emblems."

Rainer, there is currently two for sale on the www.impalass427.com (http://www.impalass427.com) web site in the "Message" area by Bill McLaughlin. They are a little pricey though.

Not sure if you guys know about this site or not ...... ?

http://www2.motorplace.com/index.cgi

Pick *PartsVoice* from the top menu. Enter your 3-digit area code, then you hop to a pull down for brand. Pick GM (obviously), and then you will be prompted to enter the part number.

When I entered the number for the above emblem, (2) dealers came up. One had (3) in stock, one had (5) !! One thing to keep in mind about this, is that only searches on PARTICIPATING dealers. And I've found that sometimes the *dealers* are not necessarily GM dealerships, but can be other folks that sell resto stuff. Since I'm not totally boned up on who's who in the Chevy world, I'm not sure if these are dealerships or not ? I'll leave it up to you guys to check it out. http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif Hope it helps.

You'd be amazed at what you can dig up, as long as you've got the part number. I've spent many-an-hour in front of the computer entering in part numbers to see if I could track em down somewhere. Some worked, others didn't. It's worth a try ........ http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/laugh.gif

They're sold. FYI the batch of 5 went for $45.00 for all 5. Bargain or what?

Thanks for the info, guys. To be honest, I was asking because I have one and wanted to put it on ebay, with mention of the B-M applications as well as the Impala SS. Sounds like its not that hard to come up with one.

If I can add a story hear I think you may find interesting. Last summer I was at a large swap meet in this area.(Southern Ontario)When I came upon a guy selling a early 70's Vette hood and a pair of big block rocker covers. The hood had the SS427 emblems and the covers had Motion emblems. The seller was asking $900 for the hood and $1100 for the covers. He claimed they were off a car modified by Motion but not a Baldwin car, so he was restoring it to stock. He had someone interested and they were way out of my range, so I kept walking. On my way down the next row 20 minutes later, I noticed the covers and SS427 emblems were gone but the hood was still there.
