Does a 1969 L-78 camaro only come with a 6x7 tach or is it like z-28s and copos, where early ones had 6x7 and later built ones have 6x8? What tach would a 9-69 L-78 Camaro have in it?

the 6/7 tach was phased out in June, I think. Yours should have a 6/8.

Where does this stuff come from?

The 6/7 tach was used for the entire production run. It was used on Z/28 until Feb 1969 and for all L72/L78 cars ordered with a tachometer or special instrumentation.

The 6/8 tach was Z/28 only and entered production around Feb 1969. At the very end of 1969 production a 65/8 tach entered production. It may or may not have replaced the 6/8 as both have been found in late build Z/28s.

William,
Thanks for jumping in, I thought I was all alone out there.
BTW, I think "they" are all coming from Wisconsin http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Was looking at a X66D80 69 NOR car last night with a 10E build date that had the 6/7 tach in iit. It also was first sold Jan 8, 1970 and title reflects it as a 1970 model. DMV here wants a letter from a Chevy dealer stating its a 69 and not a 70 on Dealership letterhead. Go figure only in Hawaii

The New 1970 Camaro and Corvette designs were not uncovered until Febuary 1970,thus the 69 models for these cars were carried out later then usual production. But the trim tag states the Model year so it sounds like someone in the DMV system messed up the year, and now it has become a Fact.

William,
I wish I knew where this stuff came from, but I bought a repop 6/8 based on it. Good news is that I haven't installed it yet, and might be able to exchange it.(D&R)

Sorry to post incorrect information, but glad to get it straight- for the sake of the original poster, as well as myself.
