Did the Norwood plant mark the bare interior steel structue in some way, some where, with an "X" code.

Has there been any evidence of "X" codes used at the L.A. plant?

According to Jerry MacNeish there was a partial trim code written in crayon on the upper RH corner of the rear bulkhead under the seat example: X-33 is written: X-3. Supposedly my Camaro has X-11 written in crayon on the firewall, firewall has been repainted. I was told this by the previous owner but since I did not see it myself I cannot verify for sure.

My 69 Z28 JL8 car was built in LA so it doesn't have any X codes but when I took the car apart, I found the number 235 written on the firewall hidden by the driver's side fender. That 235 matches the sequence # on the broadcast sheet that was found on the gas tank. It looked like the number 72 was written on the firewall and my car is Hugger Orange which is paint code 72.

My 69 Z/28 is an X-33 car and upon disassembling it for restoration, I found an "X3" written on the back right rear bulkhead, underneath the trunk/compartment separator. Its marked over the primer.
And yes, Jerry MacNeish claims most Norwood X-33 cars are marked that way.

We also have a X-6 code on the bulkhead behind the rear seat it the upper right corner-(facing rear of car) As far as I have found out the X-code came in service in late
Nov.-Dec. 68, to the end of 69 prod.. This was used only at the Norwood Facility. W have L-78 69 SS, and the x-code is also stamped on firewall tag in full: X-66
