just thought you guys might be interested.

UNDER CHEVY 427 Engine. Item # 1809179831

IN THE AD :
The block casting is # 3963512. Expert Alan Colvin describes ”This block was very special because it was used as a 427 and 454 block simultaneously during the 1969 and 1970 model years. This block has huge reliefs cast into block for crankshaft clearance.” The casting date is K-1-8 (Nov 1 1968). The stamped codes below the alternator are T1105LE (Tonawanda, Nov 11 assy date, 335 HP Turbo 400 4 BBL) This block casting is correct for passenger cars, 335, 390 and 425 HP, CORVETTE 427 390, 400, 430 and 435 HP, CHEVELLE 427 COPO 425 HP, and CAMARO COPO 425 HP. The intake casting date is J 15 8. I have not removed the valve covers. The engine is complete as pulled from the car, complete with fan, air cond. compressor, ps pump, all pulleys and brackets, radiator hoses, air cleaner, starter, distributor, carb, fuel pump and hard line fuel line, and flexiplate. It is guaranteed to turn over freely, and be in running condition without any knocks or excessive smoke. The matching Turbo 400 is available to the engine purchaser for an additional $300.00.

This block has the correct '512' casting but would be 2 bolt mains not 4 like the COPO Blocks and HI PO applications.

Hugger,
I have an LS-5 "512" block from a 1970 Monte.
What are you trying to accomplish?
Its magged and standard for $600.00. Can't remember the dates but will look them up if you need them.

This is definitely not a COPO candidate. The two bolt block won't have the pipe plugs above the oil filter. The heads are oval port and the intake would be cast iron. The stamped date code isn't in the right time frame and the "LE" code is wrong. It would still be a nice motor in any car and does have a fair bit of performance potential with minor upgrades.
