Let's send them a collective amount of e-mail's and ask if they have authorization from Chevrolet to do that...........Joel

They have been around for years and advertising in Hemmings for years.

This is from their site:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="">quote:</font><HR>Note: We don't have a problem changing paint codes, trim codes, convertible/vinyl top color codes, or option codes. We will not change "STYLE" numbers (i.e. convert Tempests into GTO's, Cutlass' into 442's, six cylinder cars into eight cylinder cars).<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

And we thought companies like this did not have a conscience! http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/crazy.gif

How do they know what you have to start with anyway? I think that statement is a legal loophole. Yes, it is old news but it is also important that we keep new members on top of what is going on.

FYI..
I am a purist as well but,I had a friend restoring his old Chevrolet. He destroyed his Trim Tag with a grinder. He thought it was a heavier metal.
I called trimtags.com,and sent them $175.00 and what exactly I wanted the trim tag to say.We did not deviate at all from the original specs. They will also take the old one as a guide if you prefer.
10 days later the New trim tag arrived and is indistinguishable from the original. It comes with original splash rivets. They Guaruntee if anyone can tell it is a newer one,you get a full refund. This company was very helpful in this situation and is why they exist today, but yes, there are times when the owner said he does not know if the tag he is making is for the owner to pass it off as the real deal.
These are legal to reproduce in our world today, and can be helpful for people like my friends resto.who accidentally destroyed the Original.

Mr. 70 you have a very valid point. And that is good for resto people who need help with a damaged tag. The unscroupulous people will try to do things but we have to become so knowledgable about these cars that those
who play games will lock the doors when they see us coming

SuperNovaSS et al, thanks for repeating the
old news; it helps rookies like myself learn.
I wish to preserve the good and honest part of this industry and hobby.
