This is a car that I had spoken about last fall and it came up again because I stopped by the fellow's shop who owns the car and he just built a fresh all period correct motor for the car. Correct date codes down to the spark plug wires. He has built the engine to be streetable w 10 to 1 compression and hardened seals on the heads.
If you dont remember the story...the car is a Black 1967 Camaro RS/SS 396/375 with 400 miles. The car was bought for racing. The owner raced in what I believe was the Stock class. In doing so the engine had been worked and the block has been shaved. The car was ordered with gears and headers in the trunk, transistorized ignition, radio delete and a soft top (had to look cool on
a Saturday night as well I guess) Now from what he told me he ordered the
car as a race car and therefore got no warranty. When the 68 season came about and his car was no longer competitive he put the car away.
I have not been able to get any pictures of the car, but from looking at it I have seen that it really is in amazing shape. It has been stored in a dry garage since 1967 and driven and started occasionally.
Due to the fact the owner is interested in selling it how would you market this car? It is a low mileage car but the original engine has been decked and bored so it is of little use. The engine going into the car will be all correct as far as date codes go. But you cannot call the car all original because that would be deceptive....
What should a car like this bring in price?
Appreciate the help...and I will get some pictures when I can.
