Dad got a call from a fellow "Missourian" a couple nights ago, who was wanting info on the upcoming "Supercar Reunion". As it turns out, he just recently became really interested in musclecars, so he went out and bought 3 Yenko cars ('68 Camaro, '69 Camaro, '69 Chevelle)! He was extremely nice, and said he was interested in attending the show.

Anyway, thier conversation got me to thinking (scary, huh!?)...wouldn't it be cool to see one of every model/year of Yenko car offered? The way I see it, there are 10 possibilities:

(1)'66 "Stinger" Corvair
(2)'67 "Stinger" Corvair
(3)'67 Camaro
(4)'68 Camaro
(5)'69 Camaro
(6)'69 Nova
(7)'69 Chevelle
(8)'70 "Deuce" Nova
(9)'72 "Stinger" Vega
(10)'81 "Turbo Z" Camaro

In '98 & '99, we had 8 of them, but we dropped off to 6 in '00. I would also like to see the other dealers represented the same way, like Motions's "Sensational Six".

In my mind, the Vega will be the hardest of the cars to get, as I only know of 2 in existance. So, is this a "pipe dream"?

To be honest with you, we never really know how many are going to show up until we arrive at the venue. When it gets closer to time for the event, we can give you the # of people who have pre-registered, and those that we have talked to. Go to the main page ( http://www.yenko.net ) and click on the '98, '99, and '00 Supercar Reunion links to see how many cars we have had in the past. Hopefully, this year the numbers will pick back up http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif.

Then again, maybe now would be a good time to get a rough head count of who is planning to make the trip...

I've got to buy a trailer this year too. Last year's event was held the same time as the Pebble Beach Concours and since I did not have a prancing horse on my car or a last name of Leno or Lauren, I couldn't get a shipping company to commit to a schedule without paying for an entire truck the whole weekend. It's a great event, but w/out a car it's not quite the same. This year's is looking to be the best ever.

Bob.. I don't think they want you to show a Trailer. You might wanna get a Supercar, maybe a VW.

Rob-sounds like a great idea to have one example of every Yenko car at the show. I believe the Yenko Vega came out in 1971. According to an article in Hot Rod Oct. 1971, Yenko was selling the Stinger Vega and planed to sell the Yenko Turbo Stinger Vega in 1972. This article states that the Schwitzer turbo kit was available at that time but only for owner installation. The prototype Yenko Turbo Stinger with the Rajay unit was tested in Hot Rod May 1971.

When is that Supercar special supposed to air on Speedvision? Seems like that would be a great place to drum up awareness of the reunion.

There's a interesting write up in the Stinger Stuff catalog about these cars being insurance rated in Pa.Another artical says it will soon be in production, leads me to believe the prototype predates this.My price sheet and memos date March 18 of 71 so it my be possible for a dealer 71.

Joe:

I'm not sure about the '71-'72 thing. I will have to see if I have some info. I was just going on the fact that this month's feature car is a '72, but I have recently been contacted by someone with a '71, so...?

Denis:

I'm not sure when the special will air, but you are correct in thinking that it would be good advertisement for the "Supercar Reunion". They should let us know when it will air BEFORE it does, so I will let you guys know as well.

I was looking through some Yenko Vega information and found an ad for Group 7 Filters. This ad has a sweepstakes where they show a 1973 Yenko Turbo Stinger as the Grand Prize. I don't know if Yenko sold the Vega Stinger in 1973 or if this was a car built just for Group 7 Filters.
