OK, I'm confused. Arctic Z Dan's first post and he is now listed as a senior member??
Some other new members have 4 or 5 stars and are forum leaders after the first post.
I looked in the FAQ and didn't find anything that explained.

It's not the amount of replies, but the actual content of each on how you are rated.
His very first response was so informative, educated, thought out and indepth, that his status here was skyrocketed to Senior member.
We need more like him.

If I had to guess, if someone will post after him, it will return to normal...or...if he posts again, I think it will fix itself...or...I could update the threads and update everyone's status (which I may do at the end of the week). I really like mr70's answer better, though... http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Since there are several different levels and the issue has come up before, can the levels/titles be defined on the FAQ page?
The rules should be out in the open so outsiders can understand how it works and see that it's not a private, restricted clique, but a group of enthusiastic enthusiasts. http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

The FAQ (http://www.yenko.net/ubb/faq.html) page has been updated regarding member ranks.

This is very strange indeed. There is no apparent logic to the levels assigned.

Take for example the user 169indy (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showprofile.php?Cat=&User=169indy&page=1&what=show members) who has only posted 3 times, and they are very insignificant posts at that. His title is "member". 302Z (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showprofile.php?Cat=&User=302Z&page=1&what=showmem bers) has posted 0 times and is a "junior member".

I've posted around 24 times with what I feel to be some amount of significant information and I've been assigned "stranger".

I see some people that don't even have a "supercar" and that haven't posted often & don't post any significant information, yet have titles such as "elite member", etc...

Seems peculiar.

Correct me if i'm wrong Rob. If your computer deletes its cookies on a regular basis. Then you will keep starting over on your ranking. I am the oldest posting member of this board and I am at the lowest level. I helped Rob test when he was setting up the board. But my computer cleans cookies about once a week.

newbie is lower, and stranger is the lowest.

Actually, Mo, you may be the oldest IN AGE (happy b-day /ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif !), you there are a few other members who registered earlier. Remember, I transferred members from the old board...yeah, I know, I got you on a technicality! You were the first to post on the new board, though/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif!

As for your cookies, yeah, they are stored on your computer, and you can delete them manually at your convenience. But, each time you make a post, it is written to a seperate file on the site's server, which contains your post count, last time visited, your profile info, etc., and it's from that file that your cookie is generated. So, unless I wipe out our database (which has been done!), then your post count remains untouched.

As for the membership titles, I'm not sure why they don't work correctly all the time. If I had to guess I would say it's becuase I upgraded from a freeware version bulletin board program that had a few hacks in it and some of the code isn't jive-ing with the new software. What real difference does it make if you post 1 time or 1000 times, the site seems to me is for helping and assisting people on vehicle questions. If I can help in anyway I do so ,I really don't care if I am a stranger or a junior or elite member its all in helping and getting help on vehicle questions etc. to me. Everyone can't be president! I guess it is just a status to some,I think this way, help if you can and get help if you need it,thats what the whole thing is about isn't it.Please correct me if I am wrong. If someone has to be upgraded from a stranger to a junior please give them my rating,I will be happy being a stranger!! /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/smirk.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/cool.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

Totally agree.

I've seen a number of post here & other boards where people have gotten mad about things that "Forum Leader" or "Tech Team" have said, thinking that it was some sort of official response.

It also promotes content-free posting to jump to the next level.

I like all the stars myself.
If you get the most stars, you can be "the hall monitor" for a week! /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

By the way, what does the "Forum Leader" possition pay?
